Much like the Big 12 itself. It's hard to understand how much love OSU is getting for beating them. They have a qb and a wr and nothing else. TERRIBLE defense and poor running backs. I guess we will find out Saturday night who looks better against Minnesota. I sure hope it's Iowa.

Baylor right there...play every horrible defensive team out there--shoot fish in a barrel--show us how awesomely Ya do that...get ranked sky-high...

Torbee had a great line in his "Tuesday with Torbee" column:

"So here Iowa sits, 9-0 and in complete control of the Big 10 West...... the continued presence of a team like Iowa among the undefeated appears to be a real kick-in-the-crotch to many of the national pundits who believe recruiting rankings and bad defense are the true hallmarks of championship football."

Exactly. Not a decent defense in the Big 12. Oklahoma is closest, but most defenses seem like they are struggling with mere fundamentals. I mean hard to watch bad defense.

The Big XII is unwatchable football to me. The defense is bad it's truly ridiculous and not one of those teams deserves consideration for the playoff in my opinion. Greenie and Golic had this argument a few weeks back and Golic said anyone who knows football watches that garbage and knows it's bad football. Greenie being Greenie just loves all the offense and how entertaining it is.
The funny thing is Nebraska still hasn't adjusted from Big XII style football playing in our conference. That's why they're still struggling. They brought Big XII finesse lots of offense football only to find that B1G teams play great defense and will punch you right in the mouth over and over. Hopefully they keep trying to be about finesse.

I'd like someone to explain to me how those 4 teams playing each other raises all boats in the conference when the collective best non-con wins by those 4 are at Minnesota and at Tennessee. Tennesse is 5-4 and Minnesota is 4-5.

ESPN's power rankings has Oklahoma at 1, Baylor at 2, TCU at 3. I guess we can figure out for ouselves where the pimping of the conference is coming from.

The TCU versus Texas Tech game was the most pathetic attempt at tackling I have seen. Actually, I take that back, there were several times that tackling wasn't even attempted during that game.

Look, ESPN is hosting the playoffs, and so is a biased source. Their interest is in getting the best ratings, and think people will be curious to see how those 'explosive' offenses stack up and tune in (especially all those tv sets in Texas!) for a good show with lots of offense. They know the B12 teams have the best chance to be left out, and so are desperately pimping them for their own corporate interests.

ESPN is not an unbiased, impartial sports news site. They are following their corporate, maximize ratings and profits best interest. Their talking heads get their talking points from above, and spout them on air and in print.

I agree. TCU has been overrated all year but I think they would have been a lot better had the defensive players they expected to start actually played this year. They have lost a ton of guys on the defensive side of the ball. I don't know the Big 12 thought it was good to put all the difficult games at the end of the year. I know they thought it would help but I think it actually hurts because they can't recover from a loss if it is in the final couple weeks of the season. And the committee is showing that they don't value what Baylor and Okie State have done so far. Baylor will likely lose to OU this weekend dropping them out. I think OU is the best team but they have to play at Okie State and they lost to a bad Texas team.

They remind me of turnstiles in a way...just kinda get some arms out and role over as the humans go passed...
