Team Has Not Quit - Neither Will I

what color is the world you two are in right now?!?!
That's TWO losses to a TERRIBLE Wisky team.
There is nothing encouraging at all about that performance.

That is not a terrible Wisconsin team......this is drama queen stuff. This Wisconsin team has beaten a good Maryland team, a highly ranked Marquette team, lost to Kansas by 1..........etc.

We simply missed a lot of open shots....WAY more than we usually do. We shoot a reasonable percentage and we win that game. We just have to hope the Hawks come out of this 2 game shooting slump very quickly. If they do, this team is very dangerous.

Alarming performance from Kris last night. Very low effort, low energy performance. Makes me think he’s battling some sort of bug or something.

No excuse to lose to them twice.
You can go ahead and try and paint it any way you want but this is a bad loss.

It's not a 2 game shooting slump. It's a season-long road shooting slump. The team rarely shoots a decent percentage on the road. Their road EFG% and 3 point % are some of the worst in the entire country. The team will likely shoot fine and beat MSU and Nebbie at home and lose handily to Indiana. It is not in any way a dangerous team once it leaves the friendly confines of Carver Hawkeye Arena.

Hawks have lost by double digits to teams currently sitting 10th, 12th and 13th in conference standings.
Not as impressive though as losing to the 13th, 12th, 11th, and 10th seeds in the first round of big ten tournament consecutive seasons.

Wisconsin played awful for an entire half, essentially begging to lose.

All Iowa had to do was perform at an “OK” level to win easily.

It was so, so bad on our part to lose to that team last night. WTF.

This team has indeed quit - at least last night they sure did. How about Kris getting after that board in the first half? Players arguing with each other. Connor more worried about being a coach than player. PMac off in la la land. You never know which backcourt including Sandfort is going to show up on any given night.

Filip is the only guy who seems to care consistently - day in, day out.

Many of us are as vested in this team as they are in themselves right now; which is next to nothing at this point.

Tony played hard.

Kris seemed completely uninterested last night. Odd, and Connor was right to ride him after that lost board, it was earned.

You can whine and cry about it if you choose....fortunately the young men on the team and the coaching staff won't do that. They will get back to work and come back to compete against these tough teams down the stretch.

It's really pretty easy/simple. We shot the ball very poorly.....if we shoot our average we probably win. When people say our guys played bad.....it really means they shot the ball poorly...because otherwise the other elements of how they played would allow them to win.

Wisconsin is not a terrible team, they aren't even a bad team....and they are tough as hell on their home court like most teams in the B10.

Throwing a fit about it doesn't change that.

The wind went out of the sails with 5 minutes left.
More like when the 3's from the corner. Someone missed a player and they were all uncontested shots.
Up to that point Iowa was in it.
That and we started missing everything, layups included.

It's not a season long shooting slump if they shoot the ball well at home. If you are saying that it is a season long shooting slump on the road, that has some more credibility to it HOWEVER the last to games (the slump) are well below our on the road shooting average for the entire season.

That's exactly what I said and their road EFG % and road 3pt% supports that assertion. They are one of the worst in the country this season.

Offensively, we are terrible. Worst in 22+ years. Defensively we're fine.

The Badgers sucked last night, and we simply allowed them to watch us beat ourselves by not being able to make a basket,... 64 points shouldn't have won that game.

He's talking about on the road, and thats a fact. Once we get into tourney play, be it the B1G or NCAA if we even make that, those are ROAD games, and we're shooting low 20% for the season on the road from three.....

We were a solid 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament prior to the last 2 games (both losses on the road in the B1G).

We are still a solid 7 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Nevertheless, this symbolizes too many Iowa fans right now:

Very disappointing last 2 games, but they have not quit and neither will I. (I do think they quit last night with about 4 to play.)
When you're out of gas, you're out of gas and no matter how hard you try, there's nothing you can do about it. Fran's lack of scholarship players is finally taken it's toll on the few he plays and not using Mulvey or Ogundele or any of the walk-ons to give the starters a break is the end of this years team.
Iowa may indeed make the NCAA tournament but after the BTT and early out, it will be just another wasted year.

Your thread title and follow-up wording says the team hasn't quit, but then you turn right around and say they did quit.

So which is it?

I think they quit on that game last night with about 4 to go (went from 6 to 12 without much resistance).

I don’t think they’ve quit on the season. I expect them to go at least 2-1 to end the regular season.

I will not quit cheering for them but it is very disappointing to slide from a chance to beat jNW and tie for 2nd place and then lose again with such bad shooting again.

And damn they looked so good against OSU.

You expect them to lose one, eh?. That's a huge change for you, as I have never seen you predict an Iowa loss.

Looked like crap at OSU. Looked good at home against OSU. It's also worth noting that that first OSU game was the Buckeyes only win over the past 2 months and it wasn't much of a contest. They are 1-14 over that time frame.
