Puzzling loss for Young...Travis Stefanik (Middle Atlantic Blue) over Kaleb Young (Young Guns Black) Dec 3-1
Shapiro beat Stefanik earlier - Joel Shapiro (Team Iowa Black) over Travis Stefanik (Middle Atlantic Blue) Dec 10-5
I could be wrong here.
I think Stefanik was in the finals at flo nationals if not the champ.

The win Shapiro had over Stefanik is a huge win for him. We are used to seeing Young handle himself against good wrestlers, but the Stefanik loss is not a bad one by any means.
EDIT or what Mpchillin said seconds before me. I'll also say he is someone to keep an eye on..
Our coaches are already well aware of StefanikWait, are you saying to keep an eye on Stefanik? Or Shapiro?
Stefanik is a very nice prospect, shooting up the rankings lately with some big wins but has always been a top athlete. QB for Nazareth, just really now coming into his own - he has grown a bit in the past few years and is really coming into his own. He really could be a great wrestler in college. Our coaches are already well aware of Stefanik
I have no idea where he will end up, but I do know that Iowa has at least "kicked the tires" a little. That said, I'm not sure that he will end up at a school like PSU or Iowa. He is an excellent student and if his other things fall in place I would think he likely ends up at somewhere like Princeton. But you never know.
He also has a little brother on the same career arc as him, maybe going to be taller. But he's also a top student

Iowa took a pretty good team in 2014 and got 2nd to Young Guns, lost 37-21. Here's the roster. In my experience, only having my son wrestle once at Disney, and three times at Juniors- there was only a couple (2-3) quality matches once the team got to the Gold pool. Obviously, pools are set up to funnel the better teams, from wrestlers credentials, to the gold bracket. With the exception to that would be if in pool play a lesser teams hammer was at that particular weight- obviously. I truly feel Disney continues to improve every year on the quality of teams they bring in- so those quality matches could be growing to 4-5. It would be really nice if Iowa could Ever send a stacked team- all out hammers in one year. We continue to get to the Gold bracket, and a great run last year- but always seem to have holes.
Every year Junior Duals seemed to be a Grind from the first match to the last- IMO. There wasn't a break, or any "coast" matches. Our best year, my son wrestled 6 top 25 ranked kids at his weight- and the number 3 twice. So, out of eight matches, he wrestled seven of eight matches against top ranked kids. It's an Amazing tune up for Fago, and a great thermometer to see where your at.
Again, I feel there are great examples and reasons to wrestle in either and both tournaments. It would be so great if our states organizations could communicate and come to an agreement to wrestle a "True" National Championship Team dual meet. I put our hammers every year against any state! Who volunteers to start making calls? Haha!!
