With CJ out Hoiberg drew up the blueprint on how to beat Iowa. With a roster full of limited talent Nebraska was able to expose Iowa's weakness. Nebraska clogged the paint didnt foul and tried to limit Garza and Weiskamp. Weiskamp still got good looks because well Nebraska sucks but he couldn't convert from 3 even though he was money from 2.

Iowa has a lot of bad shooters on its team. Connor, Toussaint, Evelyn at guard just aren't yet quality shooters or never will be. Hoiberg was ok giving these guys the greenlight to beat them. Pemsl isn't a great option off the bench. Till was a disaster even against Nebraska's talent. Hoiberg wasn't afraid of the Iowa bench, rolled the dice that everyone outside of Garza and Weiskamp couldn't spread Nebraska's defense out and it worked.

CJ is the xfactor on this team that keeps pressure off Weiskamp and Garza. He keeps defenses honest while opening up the middle for Garza. Weiskamp + CJ is a load to watch on the perimeter plus it allows Connor and Toussaint the freedom to find their roles.

If CJ isn't able to return there is a high likelyhood we see the wheels begin to fall off on the season. Nebraska is bottom of the barrel in the B1G. Other teams will be able to throw better defenders at Joe while also smothering the paint for Garza. Unless Connor, Toussaint and Evelyn improve their shooting the offense is really going struggle.

I dont fault the team for shooting so many 3's tonight. Was the only way to unlock the D.

Agree 100%. Weiscamp is supposed to be that guy, he stunk from 3. C.J is a damn good player period, losing your good players hurts anybody. The Calvary is not coming, we're in deep doo-doo when we can't put out what is left of the roster.

Evelyn might have been the worst transfer in the country.

Maishe Dailey would be a significant improvement.

I have no clue how he could average 12 ppg a couple seasons ago at Valpo. He looks totally incompetent.

Unfortunately I think all of those things are true. You know it's bad when you wish Maishe was still here!

Evelyn might have DI athleticism, but it sure as hell doesn't transfer to the Offensive end of the court.

I'm curious how much cj improved from last yr to this yr cuz from what I've seen we coulda used that kid last yr. His offense is obvious void but perimeter D missed greatly too. Unfortunately I think this injury busts our big dance bubble but would love to be wrong. Won't put it past this team to gut this out

This season is going down the drain if CJ isn't back soon.

I'm hoping this isn't a trend with him.

Some guys just always seem to be injured.

It's going to be rough, because even if CJ comes back he won't be 100% for quite awhile,... and the schedule isn't going to slow down and wait for us...

If Iowa had shot 30% from 3 and scored 85 points, would everyone still be whining? This team just played in a sauna and played 8 of 10 on the freaking road. They were exhausted, sick and banged up. Let's wait for CJs diagnosis and see how home cooking works before we start crying.

Adjusting to a player like CJ suddenly not in the mix takes time.

And this team didn't have much time to adjust between Penn State and Nebraska.

Evelyn had a good game against Cincinnati and showed he has the skills. So if you throw him under the bus, go ahead and throw the rest of the team except Garza for the performance against Nebraska.

Point is, there is no reason for that and this singling out players like that is total ****ing BS.

Evelyn can and will contribute, and this team as a whole needs time to adjust to their newly needed playing time.

It’s amazing how much the team needs this kid. Great find by Fran.
Just wish we had a Baer a Nicholas Baer on the team, during times like these.

We win the last two games with a healthy CJ. We miss him so bad just sucks for the team and fans.

This is most certainly, true. And the lack of confidence shooting it, on the road, especially against a below average NE group, has me very worried.

I do expect the Hawkeyes to play very well tonite, in front of a
raucous Hawkeye crowd.

I don't have any first hand knowledge about CJ's condition, but a stress reaction is a precursor to a stress fracture. They are going to have to be very careful about his return or he may be lost for the season.

Yet their stats are nearly identical.
