I like looking at bracketmatrix throughout the year - 87 bracketologists and they average out a teams seed. I have used teamrankings in the past for MLB baseball playoff percentages etc. Was looking at odds to win conference tourneys and then saw their predicted field. They have Iowa with only a 30.5% of an at large bid and a 1.6% chance to win the BTT. Seems quite odd. Every single site I see has Iowa comfortably in. Anyone seen this?

It really all depends on how much weight the NCAA tourney committee puts into the NET rankings.

With Iowa currently at #42, that would mean the 30.5% odds is pretty accurate.

Given that Iowa's record vs the top 5 in the Big 10 this year and the trend over the last few weeks of the season.....yeah, the odds of putting together a run to win the Big 10 tourney has to be very slim.

Yes and it should be noted they are dead last in rankings for bracket matrix. Like deeeead last.

Edit: second to last. Sorry (126/127)

Iowa's record vs the Top 5 in the league is a metric? News to me

We will probably lose our next two games. I think cook and moss have figured it out that there is no nba chance

Bracket matrix says that 141 of 142 brackets have us in, with them being the only one that has us out. They also have Arizona st as a 7 seed, when their average seed is 11.02 and 38 brackets have them out...they are garbage

Not anymore garbage than the Hawks are right now. We will see come selection Sunday how this year's year end collapse affects which tourney they are in, NCAA or NIT. NIT wouldn't surprise me. The Hawks have been that bad.

Lol you’re clueless. Sorry to be so forward but it’s true! There’s people on this board every day passing along information from people who are good at this stuff and we still have an NIT crowd. Kind of funny kind of sad!

There’s a dude who I follow on Twitter, not a part of the matrix, who has Penn St as a 12, Marquette as a 12, and VCU as a 4, just to name a few of his outlandish seeds. His “analytics” tell him this is the case. Might want to calibrate those numbers again, chief.

Keep it up, still pissy as ever.

It’s really weird that people keep saying this yet no one has the cajones to put their money where their mouth is.

In order for that bet to be valid, Iowa has to lose tomorrow and not make the tournament or be a play in game, right? Because if they lose tomorrow, I'm betting on them being a play in game.

They could lose by 82 points tomorrow and they are in the tournament, dear god people! Please just go ahead and jump already

In this case I think a hint of skepticism is ok because of the new NET ranking. We just don’t know how it will be used.

However given that the NET appears to have been developed to benefit large schools I am not overly scared.

A hint of skepticism? I don’t care what metric you look at, Iowa is in. You really think an undeated non conference and 6th place in big ten, 21 wins won’t get in? Really?!? Hint of Mary Jane seems like might be factoring in a bit here. Not to mention look at the bubble teams- weak as shit

No, I don’t really think that, nor did I say I did.
