Something has to be done with the team's strength. This game is a prime example of it. They get pushed around all the time. When you look at the team, they do not look like they have gained a whole lot physically. For example, when you compare Wieskamp to AJ Green at UNI, Green has developed a lot more then Wieskamp has in the same time frame. They have to do something different.

Weiskamp is weak.

Garza 6 11 270lbs vs Williams 6 9 270
Wieskamp 6 6 210 vs Beudraux 6 8 220
ConMac 6 4 220 vs Ellison 6 7 225
CJF 6 3 195 vs Stephoniac 6 4 210
JoeTO 6 0 185 vs Hunter 6 4 175

In terms of tale of the tape, this lineup is shorter and generally outweighed in every position but Garza

This Purdue team is very good offensive rebounding team, #2 in BIG, so they top of the class in rebounding ability,

it should be expected that this Iowa lineup gets owned on the boards by their lineup...

I agree....Doesn't seem like a priority

I’m wondering about Joe W. He appears to be run down and exhausted! It also appears that he is losing weight.

with 4 guards, of course we are small outside garza. it would be nice to see us be "faster" than the bigger team though :(

BTW RK was 5th in boards for us last night. Not just the size of the dog in the fight that matters
JT was able to use his quickness to snag a few.

And then when we had bigger players in nothing changed because Iowa refused to box out.

I swear I read Iowa was going to work in weight room last summer, new s&c coach as well?
i've asked probably 5 times on here who our SC coach is and never got an answer. looked on google and found nothing.

do we even have one? If so does he make minimum wage?

Yet Purdue has lost 14 games. They arent world beaters. Hit some shots and it all evens out.

Funny how this is only mentioned after our 1 hime loss in the B1G. Garza has put on 35 lbs and Nunge similar.
Obviously, a team that runs like Iowa is trained differently and can’t be too bulked up.

I don't think it's the weights. It's the positioning and extra effort to grab the boards. Not many of those that people were mad about for an over the back looked that way to me. It looked like one dude not boxing out and getting out of position while being bumped in the air. If we put a body on a guy and drive them out, then I'll cry for an over the back.

I had to chuckle on the team website if you scroll down a tad they have a pic of Nick Baer shoulder pressing for their strength and conditioning program heading. That kind of says it all about basketball strength and conditioning. Of course leave it to Iowa sports marketing to choose a guy who looks like he made it through whole career without ever touching a weight:). Always thought our players generally look soft compared to other programs.

Lot has been said about our perceived lack of athleticism but lack of strength and overall physicality just as big of an issue to me, if not more

I hope you are not serious. Are you saying a kid like AJ Green at UNI is too bulked up? If you haven't seen him play this year or seen clips of him, you need to. I would love to see Iowa's guards with that much definition.

Kids don’t have the same generic material. For example, P McCafferey will never have Luka’s build.
My point is that the olympic sports s & c dept is doing something right when you look at the success of Men, Women, wrestlers, etc.

I know that players will not have the same muscle mass. Heck, Patrick will probably never be over 190 pounds until he is 40. The problem I have is not seeing any definition. Even if they are going for long, lean muscles, there should still be visible definition in the muscle. When comparing Iowa to other programs, you don't see near as much.
