I really don't know much about Indiana since they recruit seven new players every year. I do know they still have Yogi Ferrell, who is a great player.

So for those of you that have seen them play, who starts for them? Who guards who? What are their strengths and weaknesses? What is the key to this matchup?

Also, predictions for how many miles Crean will walk in a 15 foot area Thursday night?

Strengths: PG, athletic, 3PT shooting.
Weaknesses: Coaching

If Bryant gets in foul trouble, they're a lot like Michigan with a better PG. totally different team without the inside presence.

I remember when OG Anunoby was a sophomore and there was talk of Iowa recruiting him. He had some impressive tape and I was really hoping that Iowa offered and closed the deal on him. The guy's been really solid so far.

I didn't really have a point with that, but I think he'll be a solid player

Yogi is the best pg in the big ten, better than Trimble. Trent Williams is very athletic wing who will play in the nba. Bryant is a good center, but a freshman that I think woody will take advantage of. Ziesloft, bielfeldt, and Johnson are ok. You stop yogi, you stop Indiana.

Bryant is good offensively within four feet of the basket, okay defensively within a foot of the basket, but otherwise just takes up space and moves at the speed of a glacier. Horrible footwork away from the basket but I think it's because he wears shoes made out of concrete--it looks that way to me, at any rate.

EDIT: Iowa should be able to wear him out if they play at their normal tempo. He'll be huffing and puffing up and down the court, get back on D about the same time Iowa makes a shot and then have to slog back down to the offensive end. His presence alone should slow down Indiana's pace against Iowa, but I don't think Iowa will let up, they'll just keep running and pressing and running and trapping and running.

I have a bad feeling based strictly on this board's mood and the importance of the game. Yeah, I know fans don't play the game... Too many people think Iowa just needs to show up. Big Ten road games don't work that way and especially ones of this magnitude.

This is, at best, their 5th toughest road game of the season. They've performed pretty admirably at ISU, MSU, Purdue and Maryland. I'm pretty confident about this game

I don't think most fans expect that Iowa just has to "show up" and its game over. They have been successful on the road due in large to the businesslike approach that they have taken and they know that they can win in the road and expect to win on the road.

They will approach this game the same way they have every other game they have played this season. Guarantee they will fight and scrap and try to take the Hoosiers and their crowd out if the game as quickly as possible. That's how they have been successful on the road in the B10. I agree Indiana goes as Farrell goes but I think they have to figure out how they are going to try to match up with us and that's going to be a huge challenge for them.

Fran is 4-4 vs. Indiana since he's been at Iowa.

2-3 @ Indiana, with a win there last year to go along with a win there his 1st year.

Last year we just picked them apart for a 77-63 win.

Key to the game is turnovers... Indiana can get sloppy and if we can turn them over and fuel our transition offense we walk out with the win. But we also can't be careless and need to get back as Indiana likes to push. Make them work and they'll give you a present.

I like our odds with Clemmons on Yogi the whole game

Shouldn't be a problem to beat Indiana. Would be a bad loss if that happened as they fell out of the rankings this week. If Iowa truly is a top 5 team it should be a walk in the park.

It will come down to our defense. If we can get some stops and get the ball out quickly on transition then we will be fine. Have Woody work underneath on Bryant and we can get him in foul trouble. Defending the 3's will decide the game. If they get hot from 3, we are in trouble.

That's a stretch. This is the same Indiana team that smoked michigan not so long ago.

Like Oklahoma and KSU....wait Oklahoma lost to KSU and is still truly a top 5 team. Funny how that works.

There are Miejer stores everywhere.

I get drunk in South Bend a lot.

Notre Dame campus is great, surrounding area...not so much.

Southern Indiana is a different world.

Cuz winning on the road in any of the Power 5's is a walk in the park, let alone a "hallowed" place like Assembly and against a very solid team in IU....

Lets just hope that their building's ceiling holds up in one piece (no loose metal falling) so that the game doesn't get cancelled like a couple of years ago. I thought that really changed momentum for Iowa that year and scheduling Indiana again worked against Iowa with the number of games that had to be played in a shorter amount of time.

If Indiana would make an effort to use Bryant, he's a load and could cause us problems. I don't know if they can defend JU. If Sapp snd Woody stay out of foul trouble I like our chances, but Indiana is one of those teams that if the three ball starts they can be leathal.

Recalling Bucky's recent victory there, the keys to a Hawk victory in Bloomington are to guard the perimeter and out-rebound the Hoosiers. Rebounding has not been a problem for the Hawks and the defense is vastly improved this year.
They love to jack up the threes but shot well below their 40% plus average that night as Zeisloft was 1-6 and Ferrell was 1-4. I will give the improving Wisconsin defense some credit for that. Solid defense frustrates them.
I was impressed with their freshman big whose name escapes me this morning. I haven't seen the line but the Hawks should be favored. Go Hawks.

Read today that this is the fourth straight game at Indiana for Iowa. How can this be?

I read that too and then had to re-read it. If you're talking about the Gazette article it said fourth straight TRIP to Indiana. Had to travel twice due to the "ceiling tile incident" and then didn't have a return trip, now this one. I got trapped into thinking 4 straight games too.

If this is true, it kind of plays right into Iowa's hands. I like our chances.

IU is unbeaten at Assembly Hall this year beating Ohio State ,Northwestern and Illinois by a combined 90 points. Obviously turnovers for IU are key. Which center gets in foul trouble first--your eye poker or our freshman? Assembly Hall will be very loud. Key for Iowa--stop the 3's ; for IU-can Johnson stop Jok. Who gets most 2nd chance points? I doubt Iowa's team is as arrogant as its basketball board. Iowa is better team but if IU makes 10 or less turnovers they will win in Bloomington.

Well if you did manage to beat us, it would be your first win against a ranked opponent, come to think of it, Iowa will be the first team you played this year who is currently ranked in the top 25, kind of sad....

IU beat Creighton by 25 , beat Notre Dame (on neutral court) ,beat Michigan at Michigan easily. We play who we play , IU did not make the B1G schedule .

An Indiana basketball fan calling others arrogant. Priceless.

I don't know if this is the latest or greatest, but what I've seen is Iowa is a 2 point dog. Those who think this is going to be a walk in the park may be sadly disappointed. IMO we have to jump on them early as they are a "front running" group. If we can get a lead and get them to play the sloppy ball they are capable of we can get the W.
