Teske was a big 12 champThanks. I all ready checked that site out. NCCA rounds, not the finishes in the Big 12 tournament.
Brennan was a 3X AA/2X NAIA National Champ at Graceland. One of those years was a free covid year. He was also 2X OW of the Heart Of America Conference Tournament (the conference that has powerhouse Grand View in it) and was named “Most Valuable Wrestler” of the entire Heart Of America Conference after going undefeated on the season and winning his 2nd NAIA title the last year he was there (2020-2021).Anyone know what Teske did at N. Thanks for the feedback. Any word on his health?Brennan was a 3X AA/2X NAIA National Champ at Graceland. One of those years was a free covid year. Thanks for the info. By the sounds of it, I think Teske will do real well on the mat for the Hawks. Go Hawks!!!Posted this on my page last week about Teske:
Brody Teske; Fort Dodge HS’18/PSU/UNI/Iowa Hawkeyes (Current)
Brody is one of the Iowa Hawkeye’s 133 lbers this year. He was at Penn State his first 2 years of college and finished with a respectable 11-4 record in his two years there. Brody then transferred to UNI where he was a 2X NCAA qualifier at 125 lbs in 2021 and 2022. He was a Big 12 champion in 2021 and runner-up in 2022. This season for the Hawkeyes will be his first season at 133 lbs. He will be competing with Mason City 🔨, Cullan Schriever for the varsity spot there.
Brody Teske was a 4X State Champion in HS. He was also a Cadet runner-up at Fargo. He only lost one match in his HS career and that came when he was a Senior to the other 4Xer in his grade, Alex Thomsen of Underwood. Those two wrestled twice as Seniors and split wins and for both of them, the one loss they suffered to each other was their only loss ever in HS. In HS, Teske was coached by Bobby Thompson and Tanner Utley.
Something that’s kind of cool about the Teske family... Brody’s dad, Dan Teske placed 4th in Dan Knight’s (Clinton ‘87) bracket when he won his 4th title. This means that both father and son, Dan and Brody Teske were able to experience standing on the podium when a 4Xer was receiving their standing ovation.
Right? I’m guessing we can pencil him in as a national tourney qualifier. Thanks for the info. By the sounds of it, I think Teske will do real well on the mat for the Hawks. Go Hawks!!!
Wow, I'm impressed that you knew all of this - you must have inside knowledge!Brennan was a 3X AA/2X NAIA National Champ at Graceland. One of those years was a free covid year. Naw…. Typical wrestling nerd.Wow, I'm impressed that you knew all of this - you must have inside knowledge!![]()
He should know it. He has it tatooed on his left arm................Wow, I'm impressed that you knew all of this - you must have inside knowledge!![]()
Not sure if this is actually a sign of an overall good thing or not. Obviously, it shows he is working his but off. However, it also shows he is almost certainly spending an INORDINATE amount of time in the collar tie position.![]()
Brennan’s transformation from last year to this year! 😂
And here, I thought Brennan simply wasn't blessed with tungsten ears. For Iowa to truly take that next step and truly compete against PSU, year in and year out, they have to find more offense from space.

Now, there are other positions that can cause the necessary friction on the ears, but nothing compares to the collar tie. Why do I bring it up? Because, nearly every wrestler from 125 all the way up to 285 seems way too reliant on this position to create offense. Make no mistake, most are really good in this position. But, many look damn near lost when they wrestle an opponent that doesn't allow the Iowa wrestler into this position.
I have been saying it for a while now, but I do think it is time for Iowa to start gameplanning for opponents now instead of always having the mindset of trying to impose their style and will on their opponent. For Iowa to truly take that next step and truly compete against PSU, year in and year out, they have to find more offense from space. Clubbing necks until their opponents break, works on 70 or so of the 77 DI opponents, year in and year out, but that top 10% or so are often good enough to gameplan against it and 1 or 2 are almost always athletic enough to expose them from space.
With that said, I really hope Brennan gets a chance to compete at NCAA's and from what I have seen of him, he has absolutely improved at Iowa. I just hope he still mixes it up from space as well. He definitely has the tools to do so!
He has a point, imo. And in this case, it’s from the amount of time he spent wrestling. It’s easy to work ties in practice when everyone goes there. But that’s not a match situation and the top opponents have it figured out and game planned.I'm impressed at the level of calisthenics you have displayed here, to go from Brennan Swafford's ears to game planning/mat strategy. Impressive.
His ears changed THAT much in what, about a year? It's doesn't take Sherlock Holmes's level of deductive reasoning to draw a similar conclusion...I'm impressed at the level of calisthenics you have displayed here, to go from Brennan Swafford's ears to game planning/mat strategy. Impressive.

Honestly, I hope I am wrong. However, it is my personal experience that the collar tie position overwhelmingly contributes to cauliflower ear. To have your ears transform that quickly, makes it hard for me to think he isn't spending a very large amount of time in that position. It went from "look at his ears after a year in a D1 room" to "you know, I think we need to game plan more."
Like I said, I'm impressed. I think you might be taking it the wrong way.
