Thanks, Biden! Work begins to replace the bridge over the Mississippi at Lansing.

In a few months Vegas won't need these bridges anymore....have four of them.

Gonna be a hell of a detour for some people. Fortunately there isn't much on Wisconsin side either, so they can just go to LaCrosse or Marquette.

No detour. The new bridge goes up while the old one is still in use. The Wisconsin side is barren, it will only be tight on the Iowa side. The only question is north or south of the old bridge, and will they drop down on that first island and use the current Highway 82? That should be improved at the same time.

Good. That bridge is old and scary to go over. Hopefully Ashley Hinson and Joni Ernst give credit to Joe Biden's leadership in getting infrastructure done.

Thank Biden, or Trump, or Obama, or Bush. This has been in the works for a long damn time and isn't a recent development. My in-laws were going to meetings in Lansing 15 or 20 years ago about bridge replacement. So play the partisanship card if you want. And you're a huge pussy if you think its "scary". While old, it is incredibly safe, just massively expensive to maintain.

Plan is to move the Iowa side approach 1 block north (condemning 4 houses) and run it across the main channel so that it connects where the Wisconsin approach is. Twofold effect will be a new functional and easily maintained bridge while keeping the Blackhwak Bridge "feel" and easing the navigational issues for barge traffic on the hardest corner of the Mississippi River. Basically they'll take out the main trusses that hold the bridge up widening the river.

We have a place in Lansing, been going up for 40 years. If you'd like more info on the project or the area in general, feel free to ask. Or mail Rep. Hinson or Sens. Ernst or Grassley.

Also, heard a rumor that someone actually purchased the Blackhawk Bridge and will move it to Texas. Not sure I believe that one but it did come from a credible source.

Edit to add: Thanks Biden for your energy policies that forced Alliant Energy to shutter the coal power plant in Lansing and have it demolished, as well as the power plant in Genoa!
(see how that works?)

Move that bridge to the Rio Grande so immigrants can cross more easily and not get abused by Border Patrol rogue officers.

Biden got it done. It’s okay to give a tip of the cap. Hinson and Ernst voted against this replacement.
Yeah, it’s scary. It’s old AF. You can see through the bridge deck, it’s too narrow. Sorry I triggered you.

I love driving over it.
Try walking drunk over it at night and being able to look through the bridge deck.

Seems you're the one that is triggered. As I said I've been driving that bridge for nearly 40 years. Doesn't bother me in the least.

Oh, and stay out of NE Iowa if it's too scary for you.

We called it the musical bridge when I was a kid, because of the noise the tires make on the metal roadway. I have always enjoyed driving on it, the sharp change of angle of the level roadway to the incline is unique to any other bridge I’ve driven.

Is there a map online of the new proposal?

A President can do that?

Don't thank Trump...he never rolled out his infrastructure plan, much like his nonexistent healthcare plan. He did add to the debt though by saving billionaires more billions.

Is there still power available in NE Iowa?
