"U.S. prosecutors unveiled charges against 10 coaches, managers, financial advisers and representatives of a sportswear company, accusing them of bribery, fraud and corruption in recruitment in college basketball.

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan said Tuesday the charges followed a two-year investigation into criminal influence in NCAA basketball. Among those charged are four coaches, who are accused of steering players to advisers who had paid bribes to the coaches.

The defendants include coaches at top U.S. college basketball programs, one agent, one financial adviser and a former referee. The coaches are Lamont Evans, an assistant at Oklahoma State University, Emanuel Richardson, an assistant for the Arizona Wildcats, and Chuck Person, associate head coach at Auburn University.

The charges include bribery, conspiracy and fraud. A key part of the case includes allegations that an executive at a global apparel company bribed students to attend universities where the company sponsored athletic programs."

TV Teddy?

Lamont Evans former assistant for Underwood.

per his Oklahoma State bio
One of the nation’s most respected recruiters, Lamont Evans was named the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator for the Cowboy basketball program by head coach Mike Boynton for the 2017-18 season.

Evans served as assistant coach/recruiting coordinator for OSU in 2016-17.

Ya I know...Underwood didnt know a thing.

Wow. Hopefully this will change the landscape of college basketball. Much needed. Keep digging and finding stuff this is good

This will go on for years as the lower level players get deals to rat on higher ups. And it won't just be ADIDAS and it won't be all of ADIDAS. I strongly suggest not getting caught up in the fact that they are the first to get nailed.

Barnstormers and Iowa will come out of this clean....many others won't.

It wouldn't surprise me if the usual thing happens. The big boys are caught with their hand in the cookie jar so Oral Roberts University must be punished.

Gonna be interesting with Zona, USC, & Louisville having good teams. Guessing the old don't punish the current kids for others mistakes will be brought out.

@JeffEisenberg: This is what allegedly went on that the school that appears to be Louisville. 100k funneled to a recruit in exchange for commitment.

I dont follow recruiting so I don't know who this is but here is a tweet.

@jmfrank1: @JeffEisenberg Says it was a player who committed on June 3. Brian Bowen committed to UL on June 3

@MerrimanTweets: Gave $100k to family of a All-American to commit to Adidas school in June. One All-American committed to Adidas School in June. Brian Bowen

this should make everyone be thankful for the coach we have...and the type of young men we have.

Offering $100K is what cheaters (now potential criminals do)...I also question the character of the handlers of recruits whether it be a parent or otherwise...and we certainly have zero interest in a kid who thinks getting thousands of $ is appropriate.

1,000,000 likes. Aren't we glad we never went out and found a "headhunter" assistant coach?

just my opinion but it seems these head coaches are able to stay an arm lengths away from the crime. Doesnt mean they dont know whats happening.

Plausible deniability & the overwhelming luck they seem to be blessed with.

Even the court reporter guy from New York that is reading through the 100's of pages from the FBI (and tweeting as he goes) mentioned that Head Coaches stayed away from the bribes because they don't need the money and want to protect their careers.

So we all know the dirty ones have assistants who do the work, get paid extra, and will deny the coach knew anything.

But! Again, this isn't the NCAA we are talking about here. So I have a feeling there are head coaches seriously considering which foreign countries don't have extradition agreements with the U.S.

The bigger coaches have lots of money to hire big legal firms. So will see hope you're right.

They're throwing around some serious cash out there. $20K you get sniffs. $100,000, you're waving raw meat inside the lion den. I would not be the least surprised if the total package was higher yet.

We all know this crap takes place in college athletics ... I'm loving it - some of the cheaters are getting caught
Unfortunately the schools that are really good at it, probably won't get caught, but its a nice start to get everybody on their toes.

@BrodyLogan: "Apparel Company" - Adidas... funneled $150,000 to "University-7" - Miami... To pay for commitment from "Player-12" - recruit
