Thanks Northwestern

well folks Northwestern B1G remaining schedule is Iowa and Wisconsin and a bunch of pillow fights , Northwestern is still a player in the West now after Nebraska's choke job .

So what? If Iowa can't beat NW, they don't deserve consideration for anything significant. Quit hoping for other teams to lose to better your chances. Win.

Does anybody know how the tiebreaker would work if WI, IA and NW end up tied (NW beats WI, loses to IA)?

where did I say I hoped they would lose? I simply stated NW's schedule is manageable the rest of the way and they are still players in the West race. Oh and PS , my chances? Never knew I played in Bloomington today.

Northwestern could easily be 1-5. They are not good - they can’t run the ball and they can give up 30+ points on any given day. Nebby really had to work to lose this one. Credit to the Cornhusker staff for finding a way to stay perfect!

But they've beaten a ranked team, so you'd better take them seriously.

That’s something not many Northwestern teams can say ....

How many times has NU beaten ranked Iowa teams through the past few decades? How many championships has Iowa lost?

Two NU wins in a row now over Iowa. How many over the past 15 games?

Congrats on the two straight wins. Be proud of your teams 12-25 record against ranked teams under Fitz. Three 10 win seasons beating a total of three ranked teams! Amazing. You got me - Northwestern is a juggernaut!

Didn’t throw anyone under the bus. But he kept saying “they deserved to win”. “They” being Nebraska.
with an idiotic coach like that, they don't deserve anything. well, actually.....if you can't trust your D to stop someone then you deserve nothing but another loss........:)

I’d assume the OP was saying that 1997 was the last time Nebraska relevant. OP was being sarcastic saying that a win today made them national champions again like in 1997.
im well aware, I'm saying maybe the OP should let a game play out before making an idiotic post ;)

Nice burn. Ferentz’s record is an astounding 4% better vs. the top 25 than Fitz. Congrats!

24-43 = 36% (Ferentz)
12-25 = 32% (Fitz)

Also, Fitz is a measly 7-5 versus Ferentz, but you probably knew that already.

Yep. KFz started out 1-9 against ranked teams in his first two years when Iowa was horrible. He’s been much better since, but I think you knew that. And, yes, Fitz was a little sluggish early in his career against ranked teams, but then NU wasn’t in as bad a shape when he took over.

NU/Fitz’s best win in recent memory was beating #4 Iowa in 2009 when they knocked Stanzi out. I think Fitz has another win against a top ten team (#9 Nebraska, maybe), but i’m not going to go back and look. I’m pretty sure KFz has had a few more wins against top ten teams. NU gets a ton of credit for the three 10 win seasons under Fitz, but they did that beating a total of three ranked teams. NU’s best years come in seasons where they don’t beat many (if any) ranked teams and they have not really contended for a Big Ten title since 2000.

Fitz has KFz’s number, no doubt. You seem to have success against MSU, too. Iowa under KFz has had similar success against Michigan and PSU. I imagine UM and PSU fans scratch their heads over this.

The Iowa-NU series is somewhat interesting since Fitz took over. NU won 4 of the first 5, then Iowa won the same number over the next five. Fitz has gotten the last two.

NU is 3-3 right now, and I think you’re lucky to be at 0.500. The Wildcats don’t seem to be very strong in the trenches, but they have some good skill players. I think this is typical, which is why I thought NU was in for a 6 +/- 1 win season. Maybe you are as great as some of your posters imply, but I’m not so sure.

So far the season has gone well for you in the sense that most of your losses have been OOC. Who knows what will happen when Iowa and NU play. I say the same thing about the Iowa-NU game every year: if Iowa can manage 21 points against NU, I like their chances; if not, NU will likely win.

The University of Nebraska just made it public that Scott Frost will still be doing post-game interviews. However, instead of conducting them from the podium he will do them from the cracked door of the media room closet.

I went back and watched the 4th qtr Neb melt down.

Key times when Neb could not make a play in the 4th quarter to win the game::

(1) 5:24 to go in the game, Neb up 31-21; N'w with a 4th and 10 & the ball at their own 25; Fitz decided to go for it; if Neb holds the game is over. Thorson, however, completes the pass for 15 yds to the N'w 40. Where were the black shirts?

(2) 3:58 to go in the game, Neb up 31-21, N'w with a 4th & 10 & the ball at the Neb 26; Fitz decided to go for it. If Neb holds the game is over. Thorson, however, completes the pass for 16 yds to the Neb 10. Where were the black shirts?

(3) 2:31 to go and Neb holds 3 consecutive times; N'w decided to kick the 28 yd FG; now its 31-24 Neb.

(4) N'w has all 3 time outs yet decides to not kick deep; goes for onside kick; Neb recovers; gets the ball at N'w 47 with 2:26 to go, up 31-24.

(5) Neb needs a first down. Nevertheless, it runs 3 consecutive times, gaining just 3 total yds, N'w calls 3 consec time outs; just 15 seconds come off clock

(6) After Neb punt, N'w starts at its OWN 1 with 0 TIME OUTS & just 2:02 to go in the game; Neb needs just ONE DEFENSIVE STOP but fails.

(7) Neb's Defense can't get a stop. N'w marches 99 yds for the tying TD with just 12 seconds left in the game.

(8) The 31-31 game goes to OT. Neb gets ball first. Neb nets just 9 yds (which included a false start penalty) and Frost decides to go for it on 4th and 1 instead of going for the FG. The Neb center has a horrible hike and Martinez scrambles and throws an INT into the end zone.

(9) N'w runs 3 times for 6 yds, setting up the 37 yd game winning FG.

N'w wins 34-31 in OT

NU is really good in the DL and front 7, bad at OL (although improving) and RB and lacks speed at WR. The offense is all Thorson right now. Larkin’s retirement was catastrophic for the running game.

NU is still 10-1 in its last 11 B1G games though.

Duke just whipped NU.

Akron was Thorson throwing 2 pick sixes and fumbling away a third TD. A total and complete turd of a game.

NU blew a late 4th quarter lead to Michigan after leading the whole game.

Hardly seems like a lucky 3-3 to me. Rotatating QBs early in the season (given Thorson’s ACL recovery) from Purdue to Akron really screwed with NU’s rhythm too.

NU made a lot more plays than Purdue, Michigan State and Nebraska. With Nebraska, they just waited until the 4th quarter...
