Pathetic that was our best option for a shot but I'll take it. Someone needs to tell Keegan that making the btt final was a semi regular thing before Fran so they aren't rewriting Iowa basketball history. They still need 1 more win to repeat what Alford did twice but happy that is a possibility
I had foreboding feeling all game....I didn't see them winning. Perkins was part of the key to winning with his drive and finish in last few minutes and then fast break finding JBO...but that TO he had was costly, and I was thinking OT. Bank shot win is something I didn't expect.
Actually, as I told my wife at the time, that Perkins TO may have been a blessing because, although it allowed Indiana to tie the game, it gave Iowa the ball for the final shot to win or go OT. Maybe the basketball powers are finally ready to smile on the Hawkeyes, a team that deserves some good luck if any team ever did.
I hear you but it had been 16 years since Iowa had made it to the Finals. A near-generation where Iowa hasn't done much in this tournament and hasn't been to the Sweet 16 since 1999. As far as the casual fan is concerned, 16 years is an eternity.
Sometimes the opponent defends your play really well, which is what Indiana did. Iowa got lucky, yes that the shot banked in. Their play the last 5 minutes wasn't lucky, however.
