That little freaking PG

Bohannon needs to be more like Spencer Lee. You can have your hobbies off the court, as Spencer likes Pokémon. But once you step on the court or mat you better being your a-game everytime. Bohannon just takes games off. Spencer never does and that’s why he doesn’t lose

This might qualify for the dumbest post of the night, although admittedly I've only read a small sample size.

Still, JFC.

And to continue that analogy, Spencer keeps his mouth shut and his nose to the grindstone. He’s as humble as the day is long. Always gracious off the mat but always ruthlessly competitive on the mat. Lets his dominance on the mat speak for itself. JBo would do well to emulate those traits as well.

There are some matchups where Jordan just doesn’t give you anything. That’s on Fran to make sure he recognizes that and makes Jordan more of a guy off the bench when that happens. Losing so decisively tonight was a direct result of not putting the ball in the hands of a slashing guard to get to the hoop. You should never ever go 10 minutes without a bucket at this level without fouling out the opposing teams frontcourt.

The spacing being gone was in large part because no one had to play help defense on the guards.

Give IU some credit, as much as I hate to say that. Unbelievably bad stretch for the Hawks for most of the second half.

this board is ridiculous....I realize half of you are piss drunk but easy on the JBo
Comments. Guy had an off night. Will be back and if not it’s frans job to pull the plug and find someone to play defense.
Bohannon is one of the last people anybody on this board should be mad at. It’s on Fran for never taking him out in the second half even though he was ice cold all game. Ulis and Keegan were two of the people who won us the Rutgers game when everybody else sucked and Keegan went MIA after picking up his third foul and Toussaint got benched after a couple of fouls in the first half. This one is on Fran IMO. Ulis never even got a look

I think the problem with Bohannon is Fran gives him too long of a leash and relies on him more than he needs to. If JBo has a great game, Iowa wins. If JBo has a so-so game Iowa probably still wins. But on nights like tonight... ugh.

Fran needs to give guys like JoeT, Ulis, and Perkins more opportunities to influence a game if JBo is just okay. Give them some playing time to gain confidence because even if they're not as great of shooters, they can definitely impact the other aspects of the game more than JBo.

Fran seems to rely on JBo as some sort of security blanket but he doesn't need to. He doesn't need to make 5 threes a game for Iowa to win.

I agree. Fran has played Jordan fewer minutes in games he’s been lights out. Absolutely no idea what was going on tonight. It’s like we lost Fredrick and Fran thought that there was nobody else on the team capable of knocking down a three

You never know when J Bo is gonna start lighting it up. Sure, at the end of the game you can Monday morning QB and say he should have been sat down and replaced tonight, but anyone who has really been paying attention knows he can also get red hot in an instant.

You ride your horses.

Jordan Bohannon is such a joke. Focuses more on his podcast, twitch streaming and complaining about parking tickets than actually getting shots up. 0-8 you’ve gotta be kidding me

He did 4 podcasts since the Minnesota loss. In games during those weeks, he averaged 17 points on 22-35 3-point shooting.

He’s also had 8 games this year where he shot less than 40% from 3....in those games, Iowa is 5-3.

Once CJ went out, Indiana wasn’t too worried about the 3-point shot. They threw guys at Garza and kept a focus on Weiskamp and invited everyone else to beat them. JBo had already shown it was not his night. There were a couple times when Bohannon went off the dribble and had chances for runners or mid-range jumpers. I wanted him to take a couple of those. Sometimes a shooter just needs to see the ball in the net.

Bohannon is a three point shooter only.

He brings great value when he's hitting, but is an incredible detriment when he's not.
well his 14 assists the other night say hi...couple nights ago he also had 19 points to go with those. How quickly people forget. Yes, he struggled tonight but give a little credit to IU. They did not make getting good looks easy. JBO will be fine.

Stupid post. He literally doesn’t do anything besides take classes, play basketball and talk to people for a podcast. Don’t be a moron. He had a bad night.

Spencer Lee also participates in a sport very few people give a shit about.

I absolutely get lathered up during games as well, but after about an 8-10 minute stretch in the first half, nobody shot well. Yes, Jordan was ass as far as shooting goes, as were a number of guys last night, but it's the decisions and effort that will bother me more than an off-night shooting.
We also had a rugby match last night, that was inconsistently officiated. I have no problem with some physicality but IMO the grabbing/shoving/etc. that was allowed last night--at the times of the officials choosing--was too much. But hey, you adapt and as the old adage says; if they aren't going to call it.... And it did NOT cause the loss.
Key guys got badly timed fouls, and frankly some of them were stupid fouls, and they sat. Fran's subbing was very head scratching, but when nobody can make anything, and at times everyone looks afraid to even shoot the damned ball, I'm sure he was searching for something that works.
Every team has one of "those games" where nothing goes in, and evidently last night was ours. Where I get 'frustrated' is, again, the effort and decision-making. For a lot of the game, we appeared VERY discombobulated. A number of times in both halves I looked at the clock and thought "wow, there's still 5 minutes left", as the game seemed to have very little flow to it. Just kind of an ugly game all around. Flush it and be ready to work hard.

Love Bohannon. Has made some absolute daggers for this team in huge games. I can understand why Fran left him on the floor. You expect him to eventually start knocking some 3s down and give the team a spark. Some nights he’s put the team on his back with the 3 ball. Just didn’t happen last night, couldn’t get anything to fall. He’ll bounce back.

There's only 78 Division wrestling programs in the entire country. I love Hawk wrestling but never took in a meet while I was in school and don't know anybody else who did either. Jordan and social media didn't lose the game last night. WTF is wrong w/some of you? IU got in our grill last night and the only guy who did anything was Luka, and Weiskamp in the 1st half. He totally disappeared in the 2nd half when the game got physical. The game got away from us so quickly after we went up 53-44. At that point it looked like we were on the verge of blowing them out. When Bohannon is not hitting, Frederick is out, and of course Connor is in there we pretty much have no scoring besides Luka. Connor didn't even look at the basket in the 2nd half. Would have at least liked to have seen our defensive lineup of Murray, Patrick and Touissant for a 5-6 minute stretch to see what might have happened. Our starters also played a very poor defensive 2nd half as well. That's on Fran.

It's all on Fran. Bohannon is a shooter who's been instrumental in many of our wins. He's gonna shoot because that's why he's there, and he knows the odds favor his getting hot sooner or later. If he's not shooting, or if he's shooting and missing, he's just taking up space. I don't blame him at all because he knows his role. Fran, on the other hand is responsible for the team, and if one part of the team is broken, you have to replace it with the best piece you have available instead of hoping the broken piece gets better.

When he was struggling early in the year, I was thinking just drive in a couple times and create some contact and hopefully draw a foul to get him to the line. He's not real good at that, but if he can get to the line and see the ball go in, maybe that gets him going. Shooters can make shots from anywhere, and on his off nights that would be a good idea just to see if it helps.

I know he was poor last night, but I agree with others who say you play your horses. He is certainly capable of knocking down 5 in a row at any time. Wasn't meant to be last night.

Had a rough night shooting for sure, but IU was in his jersey all night and when you can't separate from your defender it causes problems. Fran pushed no buttons to alleviate the situation but it's one game and every team will have a couple of really off nights.

Reading this thread is depressing. Frank Kaminsky seems to be right that Iowa fans will turn on their team at the first possible sight of things not going perfectly. Some of the comments are pathetic from some of you 'fans'.

how can fans see this but not the head coach?

What an attitude. Keep it up with your 'more life' crap. Team game & he let his team down with his distractions. Seems he's become pretty entitled. You have your whole life ahead of you to pursue whatever it is you want.

I don’t understand any of this. Just because he’s on Twitter he’s “entitled “ or not focused? That’s just being ridiculous. If he didn’t love basketball and this team he probably doesn’t have double hip surgery and work his ass off to get back and play. He had a bad game. It happens. He didn’t have a bad game because of Twitter. He had a bad game because of Indiana’s defense. Some of you must be a lot of fun.
