I'm guessing when their athletic dept takes huge financial hits from not being in a true FB power 5 conference their wrestling program will suffer significantly. I'm not saying they will go away but their wrestling budget will lend to an even more significant decline in their program.

Imagine where they'd be right now if they didn't hire Carr's dad.

I doubt it.

I imagine it's going to take a hit. The Big XII only has 5 true conference members with a wrestling program. OU leaving doesn't help either. Only OSU and ISU have any kind of wrestling history in the conference so that doesn't bode well for recruiting.
The NCAA tournament is basically the B1G tournament all over again.
ISU is basically wrestling with FCS level programs in their conference.

Easy on the Clones... they're in the top 30, currently.

This, on the heels of their fans predicting a real possibility of finishing in the top 10.

Unbelievable how far off the cliff they've fallen.

Where’s OU going to take their wrestling program?

Wouldn't want to see ISU lose its wrestling program. The dual this year really seems to have broken the brains of many of their fans, it was a pretty gross meltdown by crablegs and several others. But I'd hate seeing a program that's had a lot of historical success fold up, wouldn't be good for the sport.

I would think OU would stay as a wrestling member since SEC does not have wrestling. Or join the conference Missouri is in.

I think a huge part of the latest Clone collapse this season was the putrid schedule Pollard/Dresser put together.

I think we've got some of the better high school programs in this State that wrestle a tougher slate.

For the most part, even David Carr has looked like shit.

Missouri still wrestles in the Big 12 so I imagine OU would do.

Dresser and Metcalf are out combing Detroit metro 7-11 stores for recruits right now. Metcalf finally gonna put those michigan ties to good use.

What if David is wrestling well below 100%?

This is a great post. How can this board be critical of any other program right now given these results this weekend.
OP didn’t say anything about results. It’s more about support and funding, the results aren’t helping them though. There’s a big gap between Iowa and ISU.

I'm the OP and I'm not talking about results. I'm talking about how their athletic dept is going to take a HUGE hit financially without a top football conference. Revenue comes from football and TV contracts... the BIG 12 lost a lot of luster and it's going to lose LOTS of income. Wrestling will be grossly affected by their lack of funds.

Just for the record, ISU fan now saying Eierman was faking his pain on the mat today because he knew he was going to lose.

In my view, the bigger problem for ISU is the lack of progress in year 5 and how it affects being able to raise funds to sustain the CRTC. If you can't improve the "on the mat" results, as Dresser has been unable to do, you're not going to draw athletes to the training center and the CRTC guys are the guys that help as workout partners for the college team.

If you look at the powerhouse college programs today, most have access to a reputable RTC. A strong program draws high school studs that want to stay after they graduate.

Dresser is still struggling in raising funds.

Regarding the fund raising?

Cause everything else I mentioned seems accurate based on wrestling results.

Not many high profile members in the CRTC.
I love the Hawkeye fan base. If we ain’t winning, may as well bring the cyclones down with us. Man, this board really is a dump.
Hope all can tear shit up on the backside!

Bring the Clones down with us???????????????

Their last title was 1987. They were "down" before probably half the posters on this forum were born.

sir the clones are already down. Their athletic dept will struggle and wrestling will suffer most

"Down" must be interpreted differently at various schools?

Clone fans seem pretty upbeat now that they're sitting in 19th place at Nattys.

Can't make this shit up. Having 3 AAs must be considered an over achievement.

This is not about results this weekend. It was about financials, football and funding. But you can make up your own arguments.

Did herm logon under a different screen name or do we now have another contender for worst poster in the cesspool?

I don't think you know what that term means.

Probably because we won the last two titles and despite a rough year injury wise we're still looking down in the standings at every program but two.

I thought they have been dead for a long time.
Just watch...those Clowns will be painting that 18th, or whatever, place finish as progress in Year 5.

And unless they get better coaching, they aren't sniffing top 10 at Nattys before Carr graduates.
