The Big 12 is terrible at football.

Iowa State might be the best defensive team in the Big XII. Too lazy to look up the stats but they are solid.

Bowl season and playoff is the way I judge.

All teams are at their best at that point.
Silly as some conferences always have beneficial bowl matchups because they aren't good enough to qualify for the playoffs or dont travel so aren't invited to good bowls.

Will Grier is the most overrated qb on the planet.

The Big 12 winner might have 3 losses this year. In addition to having no unbeaten teams, they chose to largely backload their schedule as much as possible. This is also funnily the reason ISU has such an easy schedule down the stretch as they were assumed to be a patsy

Not sure I agree with you Grier. He was sacked 7 times, so it wasnt all on him last night.

Iowa St made Patrick Mahomes look pretty bad too and he ended up being a legit NFL player.

Grier was more worried about his passing percentage than throwing the ball away evidently. He took some real bad sacks last night.

I agree with the OP, that conference is overrated every year. WV is probably the worst top ten team I have ever seen play.

I said it in another thread, in a league that is "defense optional," Iowa State plays good defense. They don't have the talent of Oklahoma, Texas, TCU, etc, but they seem to have the right defensive game plans in place and they execute pretty well. Signs of good coaching and development.

Remind us of anyone we know?

Big 12 might not be that strong, but look at the Big West? What a joke and Iowa will not win it. Delusional!

I didn’t know Iowa was mathematically eliminated from winning the B1G West. You do realize that Iowa is tied for the lead in the West and still have six games to play so anything can happen as it starts the second half of the season.

5-1 first half of the season, no reason they can’t beat Maryland, @ PSU, @ Purdue, NW, @ Illinois, and Nebraska to win and represent the West in the B1G Championship game then beat tOSU again based upon their struggles to beat Indiana and Minnesota at the Shoe while Iowa soundly beat both on the road. Iowa does that, then they are a potential play off team. I think next year is the year for Iowa and Kirk to make a serious run at the B1G Championship and play off spot based upon their returning lettermen.

Development? Wake me up when they can actually get a player drafted.

Iowa doesnt have the tie breaker vs Wisconsin, but I am thinking Wisconsin has a more difficult remaining conference schedule.

I haven’t watched much B12 football (just a few games) but whether it’s Iowa State or Oklahoma....they throw fly routes 60% of the time. It doesn’t matter if the guy is open or not....they are gonna throw it.
