The time frame for me is too far removed from the rest of the college games and now Pro Football has taken over for those without a dog in the fight. The semi final games on New Years Eve I heard were a ratings bust, ( not that I've checked ). I think the semis should have been the Saturday before or two weeks if necessary then play the MNC game the closest Monday after New Years. Move some of the head to head NYs 6 games to NY Eve. If you elect me that's my plan.....................oh yeah, and nuking ISIS too!

You make good points, and I basically agree, especially since it's two Southern teams. My main interest is in seeing Alabama lose. Please, enough Alabama. Enough SEC. And I kinda like the ISIS thing, too.

What the NCAA should do is play the Semi-Final games on Christmas Day. No one wants to watch the NBA all day long, ratings would be much higher than the NBA too. Then they need to play the National Championship the Friday before the NFL Playoffs begin.

Schedule this year would have been:
Conf Champ Dec. 5
Semi Finals Dec. 25
Nat Champ Jan 8

That should be enough time to spread things out and still keep people's interest.

I guess I'm in the minority, as I'm looking forward to it.

I'm not a fan of either team, not even an Alabama hater (though I can't stand Saban). But as a sports fan with no MNF available tonight, I think it's perfect.

I used to think they kept Christmas away from Bowl games because of the NBA, but now I say don't even give the teams that long of layoff.

Conf Champ Dec 5
Semi-finals December 19th
Championship January 2nd

Hell if they go to 8 teams they could do:

Conf Champ Dec 5th
Quarterfinals December 19th
Semi-Finals December 26th
Finals January 4th.

Good post. I hardly care about it either. Whoever runs the show needs to put their ego aside and get things in order. This should be a good game but the world does not care.

There could be an Alabama factor that is hurting it as well.

I feel the same. I have no interest in this game. I didn't really have any interest in any of the playoff games to tell you the truth. I still think College footballs post season is the worst of any major sport. The bowls are basically just exhibition games and the playoff isn't really a playoff if only 4 teams are in it.
They need to expand it. And do away with bowl games. You could just have a smaller playoff similar to the NIT in basketball for the next best teams that were left out.

I was just thinking about this last night. I don't care about the NFL much during the season, but now that the playoffs started, it's NFL time. College needs to be over.

Chalk me up as another who's sick of Alabama. And the SEC. Really, the South as a whole. Should have let them split when they wanted to, and I'm only partially joking.

I really don't like Alabama at all. I'm so sick of the talking heads bragging about them that I no longer pay attention. They've done this to themselves.

I lost interest when the two teams I was rooting for lost in the semi's. I really don't give a rats ass who wins at this point, other than I hope 'bama loses (but no enough to tune in and watch). In all honesty, I forgot the game was tonight until I saw this thread. I made other plans....

I'm sure I'll hear sometime tomorrow who won and that's sufficient for me.

I always watch the NCG. All I ask is the game be good. Entertain me.

For instance in the NFL, Steelers-Bungles meant nothing to me - and neither really did Seahawks-Vikes...but those games I'll never forget watching. Almost had surreal endings that were befitting the history of both franchises. They were the special kind of infamous that football can provide.

I hold no love for Clemson, but it's always fun/interesting watching Alabama get beat, and it's reeeeely fun watching them get their ass kicked. Much like say the Patriots in the NFL. It's not jealousy so much as it just plain doesn't happen very often. And that makes it worth watching.

So...entertain me please.

I won't be watching either. Not because of the delay but because I think Baja hammers them and I can't stand listening to any more SEC crap.

"They should have a PLAYOFF! It would be EPIC! Greatest thing ever in the history of ever! It's stupid that we don't have a PLAYOFF! Got to have a PLAYOFF!"

meh ....

So far, I love it. I watched MSU and then the Hawks stink up the field against Alabama and Stanford. Would love to see Alabama go down tonight and Clemson is making it interesting to say the least.

13-7 Clemson leading after a bullet to Renfrow. Nice.

I wish they would have played Saturday. Yes I get NFL WC games wouldn't allow this.

As long as there is a college game still to be played, that will take precedence for me over the pros. NFL players are on their teams as the result of a business transaction, college players chose to be where are based on non monetary factors (except Ohio State and the SEC)

Yes, I notice Fowler isn't calling this game like he normally would. He's really trying to sell excitement tonight. I wonder if that's a directive because of the low ratings for the semifinal games and the fear of losing the audience tonight.

Bama getting the calls so far. Or non calls at least. Quite a bit of holding.

If this game stays this close, I can't help but get the sense it's going to end up with some sort of controversy attached to it. We'll see, I guess.

Didn't watch. Bama won again as expected. Didn't miss a thing.

I wouldn't mind too much if a star literally fell on Alabama.

I agree. We need to get used to it. I think the playoffs are basically going to be feature the same teams year after year-- Alabama, LSU, Florida, Florida Stae, Clemson, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Stanford, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Notre Dame (of course), and an appearance once in a blue moon of teams like TCU, Baylor, Wisconsin or even Iowa, and others. Interest is going to wane. It already is among students. ESPN will keep it afloat with its money and experts
