The Championship Game...............I've lost interest.........

My guess is that's when we'll start to see a move towards extending the playoffs. Like this year there were 3 different teams in the dance compared to last year (Clemson, Michigan State & Oklahoma). If in the next 5 to 6 seasons and there's not a team in the playoffs that hasn't made it before, it wouldn't surprise me the playoff committee looks to change that. Because eventually the majority of people outside of the 4 teams in the semifinals will get tired of seeing the same teams over and over.

I agree. We need to get used to it. I think the playoffs are basically going to be feature the same teams year after year-- Alabama, LSU, Florida, Florida Stae, Clemson, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Stanford, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Notre Dame (of course), and an appearance once in a blue moon of teams like TCU, Baylor, Wisconsin or even Iowa, and others. Interest is going to wane. It already is among students. ESPN will keep it afloat with its money and experts

Is this really all that different from all time in college football? There's a set of elite teams that rise and fall, but the title is almost always one of that bunch.

I would drop LSU, Clemson, Michigan State, and Stanford from that list. They are not in the historical top tier and are likely to drift downward. Heck, I'm not convinced Michigan has staying power in the group anymore. You can put those teams in the list of second tier programs that will make it once in a while.

To some extent, I agree. Then again, the European Cup has been like that for awhile now, and as annoying as it can be, it's as big an event as ever.

Keeping it local, isn't the Final Four like that? Same handful of programs with some gatecrashers every now and then?
