Iowa vs MSU

Equal teams with a +14 turnover margin.

MSU QB more seasoned and dynamic thrower...Iowa QB more conservative, a better runner.

MSU lost at Nebraska...Iowa won at Nebraska.

MSU was given the game vs Michigan.

Lower level teams have scored on both Iowa and MSU.

MSU QB has been hurt, could be hurt again and knocked out...same for Iowa QB although he seems to be healing with an "older" injury.

Coaching =

Emotional edge to Iowa as they are placed as the underdog again. Bias against the West side of the conference will help Iowa.

Iowa has historically been a more stable and disciplined team, especially this year. MSU has a history of big undisciplined play at times.

I look for Iowa to exploit the edges on offense, use their TEs as primary targets, and open up the offensive playbook this game.

Iowa will try to make MSU one dimensional, taking the run away..."containing" the MSU passing game and putting licks on the QB and the receivers, wear them down and skeer them a bit.

I wouldn't put money on Iowa at -3 or -4 but would consider it over and above those numbers.

That said, I really like Iowa's chances and think they will win. The leadership, efficiency and grit of this team have been impressive...why would it stop now? MSU is a better foe than OSU for Iowa, especially, IMHO...a nice break for Iowa to play MSU...better history with them in some big games.

Go for it Hawks...you are 12-0...the worst that can happen is finishing the season 12-1...

I am concerned about King's antics...leading to a fumbled punt, an idiot personal foul, and other missed plays...can't have that...need to play a clean and smart game...invite MSU to give it away to us.

My two cents...

I'm thinking that King was just amp'd up a bit too much trying hard to make-up for his personal error that Ferentz sat him down for. Des will be there when we need him...he is as money of a player as any in the Ferentz era.

This is my hope also...don't want to see the chance piddled away by undisciplined living or play...we don't want to be like Nebraska.

King played well defensively against Nebraska. As for the muffed punt, we'd all have a hard time reading that ball in that wind. He bounced back later with a good return.

He just took his eyes off the ball at the last minute, which is what almost always happens when there's a fumble like that.

Better receivers, less conservative scheme and CJ being injured, and yes I know Cooks been injured too.

We're not taking big shots down field nearly as much as early in the year because of the above factors, and Kirks getting progressively more conservative with every win.

Id be hard pressed to buy anyone currently playing college football as a more dynamic thrower when CJB is healthy.

Cardale is the only guy with a bigger arm in the conference and that includes Cook and Hackenburg.

With the game being indoors both QBs are going to look pretty good.

Speaking tongue-in-cheek of course, it's been awhile since we had to worry about a player being paid off and throwing a game. ;)
