in the episode when they were transferring the prisoners, did they say why exactly they needed the freeze guy? He didn't do anything until the sabotage.

They basically just said he was there to help in case anything went wrong. I'm assuming they meant that if the truck lost power, he'd be there to freeze the prisoners before they could escape/cause any trouble.

They asked for the cops' help first, but couldn't get it and they would have been useless against them, so I don't know if that would have been it.
