(CNN) - The Ford F-150 is no longer America’s No. 1 vehicle.

Data from Jato Dynamics found Toyota’s RAV4 dethroned the F-150.

The pickup truck was in the top spot for four decades.

Researchers say the RAV4’s hybrid powertrain is a big reason for its rise in popularity.

Honda CR-V sales also rose, while Tesla Model Y sales decreased in 2024.

Time for some tarrifs
I love tariffs, yes I do!
I love them red, I love them blue.
I love them on imported steel,
I love the way they make trade feel!

Would you like them on a car?
Would you like them near or far?

Yes, I’d like them on a car!
Yes, I'd like them near and far!
They make my country's goods compete,
And help to keep our prices sweet!

Your poetic stylings seem familiar, Pablo Neruda perhaps?

Oh, silent wall of numbers,
standing firm against the tides,
you rise like iron spines
between the hungry mouths of nations.

You are the hand that slows the flood,
the unseen guardian of hammers and steel,
whispering through the smokestacks,
singing in the calloused hands of men.

Not all love you,
yet you shape the streets,
the factory hum,
the stubborn roots of labor,
anchoring a land to its own weight.

Oh, tariff—bold and heavy,
you do not bow,
you do not yield,
but hold the spine of industry
against the winds of foreign shores.

It's weird but I do not see that many Rav4s here in the DSM area. I see a shit ton of CR-Vs and F150s though.

Does anyone know where the name “Rav4” originated or what it means? Sounds like something stupid from 90’s when everything was “xtreme”.

My buddy always refers to them as the Toyota “Fag4”.

Thank goodness Obiden gave billions to Toyota, Rivian, etc before he left office.
Democrats, trying to burn the USA down since 1861
Toyota has five of the top 20 vehicles in the Made-in-America Index.

Guess how many Ford has?

This probably has more to do with people not wanting to spend $65k for a basic Lariat.

I rented a Rav4 last year. Pretty spartan inside compared to my Mazda. Drove okay, but hated the aggressive nature of the lane-keeping system. It would literally try to FORCE me to not jump into the next lane on the highway without the turn signal on. That could cause a wreck.

I was broadsided in Evanston almost 3 years ago by a RAV 4….gal ran a red light at Dempster/Crawford and did about $18k damage to my CRV…crashed the entire driver’s side of the car… and we drove it back to DSM! Last thing I remember before the wreck was the gal stuffing a fistful of French fries into her mouth at impact! Thank God she was insured…replaced everything in the driver’s side of the car from front quarter panel to rear wheel well…except no broken glass.
But I do see a lot of RAV4 on the road…not so much in DSM…

Hands down the RAV4 is the best vehicle we have ever owned. We rented a Mazda cx90 for a trip and it was ok. Probably comparable. Knock on wood but I think it will go 250k miles.

Do you have the best rav4 and did you rent the shittiest cx90? Otherwise this makes little sense right me.

Rivian is an American car company who's manufacturing plant is located in Normal, IL.

RAV4's are everywhere where I live.

And Trad, the lane assist is indeed kind of aggressive. My brother owns one (2019 I believe) and he complained about it and asked for help, thinking something might be wrong with the vehicle.

I went into the settings menus and it took me about 10 seconds to turn it off permanently. It now drives perfect.

Toyota makes the best quality vehicles for the price, plus their resell value to amazing
I’ve had both Hondas and a Toyota over the years, and ridden in many. I would say the Hondas were just as or more reliable, with just a high of a quality of finish.

Maybe try using the turn signal when changing lanes. The thing you’re supposed to do as a courtesy to every other driver on the road.

Hah that is the first thing I thought. My wife’s traverse does the same thing. It REALLY hates it if you change lanes without a signal and will turn the wheel surprisingly forcefully to get you back in your lane. The solution is to obey the law and use a blinker.

Or, I know this is crazy, but you could actually use your turn signal when switching lanes.

Ok captain law abider. I take it you never go over the speed limit? Sometimes I won't use a blinker if there isn't a car within 200 yards of me. The horror.

same here, I just hate the Honda interior as they are very cheap feeling to me

but their engines are legendary

To me, this was more true maybe a decade ago. At least, that applies to the ones I have been in or owned. Not BMW nice but pretty nice.

Well obviously I have done the same thing and it nudged me back into the lane. If I lived out in the boonies or was frequently on long stretches of interstate, it would bother me more. But, I am mostly around other people on the road so blinkers generally get deployed.

We have a newer RAV4. It gets the job down.

All cars will be pieces of shit after 300,000 miles. I really don’t care much about cars. Mechanically sound and get me from A to B. RAV4 does that fine.

Millions of people work years longer than necessary just to drive a nicer car to the job they hate. It’s laughable. Drive less car and put the rest on an index fund.
