I've never been one to watch the Oscars, so I decided to watch an movie that won a bunch of Oscars last night. The French Connection came out in 1971, so this isn't a spoiler, but that was a big one to drop at the end when "Popeye" Doyle killed the FBI guy. He and Cloudy just stare at each other, mumble something, and then Doyle walks off. How did they explain that one away?
For coming out in 1971, it was still a thrilling movie. The action scenes were well shot, and the pace was excellent.
