It wouldn't surprise me to see SC employ their version of the Pistons Jordan Rules to thwart CC or at the very least grind her down.
Officiating, or lack of it, may influence the outcome.

lol did you see the Maryland game after they took the lead the refs went all in, 26 fouls to only 12. But trying to conatin Clark by being rough and doing it is another thing and could backfire
SC was the more athletic and aggressive team. That usually leads to the opponent getting a lot more fouls. Refs aren’t obligated for both teams to have the same amount of fouls. Teams have tried to be physical with Caitlin all season. I expect nothing less. I honestly expect them to play us straight up and let Caitlin get hers. Maybe she drops 45 and we win. Let’s hope so.

I'm incompetent and can't find easily available stats. Can someone talented show how many fouls have been called "for" and "against" SC this season?

South Carolina (36 games) 519 (14.4 per game) fouls called against them, 711 (19.8 per game) fouls called against their opponents. Iowa (36 games) 538 (14.9 per game) fouls called against them. 689 (19.1 per game) fouls called against their opponents.

I will say I thought the refs in the Maryland game were very fair if not leaning towards giving calls to Maryland in the beginning. Almost like they appeared to not want to be influenced by the home crowd. It didn't take long for that to change, however. At least in the Final Four you will get the best referees the women's game has to offer.

I thought the officiating in the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 left a lot to be desired.

Granted, I am more used to watching the physicality of B10 men's games. But it seemed like anytime Colorado drove against Iowa, all they had to do was chuck up a wild shot and the refs blew the whistle. Any semblance of contact by an Iowa defender seemed to draw a foul

Refs also aren't obligated to get whistle-happy for one team when the same contact is occurring for the other, but they do it anyway.................but let's excuse them for being human.

The women are a little more crafty at that euro step and twisting their bodies to draw what looks like contact to entice the refs to call fouls.

Some guys are also good at it, but you see it more in the women's game nowadays, particularly amongst the shorter guards.

The problem is also compounded when your defenders are caught flat-footed, or late to slide in a better guarding position (to make calling a foul less obvious).

Haha you gotta be kidding me. This already. Who the eff are you people?

Tbh, if there is one team in the history of womens basketball that the refs would favor, it'd be this Iowa team with the most groundbreaking, brand establishing, record viewership player CC.

its bad enough Iowa is playing the defending Champs who also happen to be ranked #1 and are 36-0...
but they are also playing an SEC team on an SEC television network in a game that means a lot for this television station.

but lets face it... it would be better for the sport of Women's Basketball if the refs played a fair game.

but we all know money corrupts and this game most certainly will be corrupt.
guaranteed.

David had a better chance against Goliath than Iowa does against SC
