Just finished the first season. Not bad. Interesting historical stuff about what the state of medicine was in 1901 (answer: not good). I suspect the writers have bitten off more than they can chew for more than another season or two, though. We have a cocaine-addicted hero, a Black surgeon fighting racism and his own demon, a nun who moonlights as an abortionist, a rich debutante who is trying to modernize things (while screwing the Black surgeon when he isn't fighting racism and his own demons), and a naive nurse from West Virginia who went overnight from virginity to expertise in all things sexual. Not to mention a Chinese who runs an opium den when not murdering people, a hospital administrator who steals from the institution.....well, let's just say the chances for plot disaster are very good.
Also am watching "Longmire," which was not renewed by A&E after three seasons but was picked up by Netflix. So far, Season 4 -- the first as a Netflix product -- is much better than the first three years.
Meanwhile, working through the second season of "The Blacklist" and have finished "Deadwood." As for the latter, the c***s***ers canceled the series unexpectedly so all the subplots were left up in the air and that's where they're going to stay. C***s***ers.
Retirement is a bitch.
