Reminds me of Robert Gallery when he came back for a game in 2015, I believe. He lost a ton of weight from his playing days.

Hearing Marshall's name always reminds me of that slobber knocker hit when he laid out that ISU player many years ago. In today's game he would have been flagged for roughness. What a great player Marshall was.

I think they have no choice. it's either, "Stay 300 and die young and hate most of the rest of life" or, "Get back to pre-playing weight and be able to play with my kids and grandkids, and actually see them graduate from high school".

I remember an OL that came to Iowa in 1982, or so, as a TE weighing about 210 or 220. A year or two later he's a G weighing in the 270s/280s. And he didn't look "beefy" or "healthy", he looked "hefty" and "fat". I saw him at a few parties and he looked like a hugely fat version of Augustus Gloop from "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory".

You can be big/overweight and still be reasonably healthy. I see these type of people infrequently. It’s definitely not the norm but it’s possible. I think these guys lose weight because they are used to being athletic and this is how they exhibit this post football. It’s also much easier on their joints slimming down to a more normal weight.
