One aspect of sports that I always find fascinating is the mental aspect attached to good and bad performances.

So often responses to threads go in this order:
Initial statement of confidence: "Iowa rolls in this one. 25+ plus!"
Response of alarm: "Be careful to get too confident."
Logical rebuttal: "I don't think me being overconfident will affect the players."

Of course the last response is correct. We posters do not magically influence the players; however, I do think the general attitude of the fan base can give a hint as to the mental state of the team itself.

That being written, the general overwhelming confidence attached to the Indiana and Minny games had me a little worried.

So, am I off base? Do the attitudes of the fans ( or in this case, posters) offer a reflection of the general readiness and confidence of the actual team? A market forecast of sorts, if you will?

The Father of Modern Psychiatry, at least the man most would give that title to, is one Philippe Pinel. Now, I'm not going to write a book, but he basically and all together purposefully apprenticed under one Jean-Baptistse Pussin. Pussin was the Governor, or man in charge, of 200 or so mentally ill men who were housed at the hospital that employed Pinel.

Pussin's only experience? He was one of the inmates and had somehow managed to right himself well enough to earn release, and was talented enough, gifted naturally somehow, to manage the menagerie!

Thus, the Inmate who ran the asylum also trained the Father of Modern Psychiatry!

So, when we delve into the mental aspects of sports, let's keep that in mind. :)
