The movie 13 Hours is exposed as fiction

Who really wanted there to be an intelligence breakdown? The Republicans. Who led the two year probe to find evidence regarding the situation? The Republicans. Not that I actually expect you to admit as much, but I did expect a little more out of the self proclaimed "Most bipartisan person on this board".

Bonds didn't get in trouble because Greg Anderson wouldn't roll over on him. Congress pretty much set the suspension level for PEDs in baseball because Selig was handing out 10 game suspensions and pretty much created a zero tolerance policy that MLB follows today.

Of course it was the Republicans. I don't anyone here has disagreed with that. And if Greg Anderson didn't roll over on Bonds, how do you know they same couldn't be said in the Benghazi hearings? People lie and cover up all the time. You think there's no chance in hell that this happened in those hearings?

Yes, the Republicans went after them with the intent to make the Obama Administration, including Clinton look bad. But if people lie in these hearings, how can they come out and publicly state anything other than they couldn't find anything?

It works both ways, Fred. The GOP and the Dems lie to save their ass. It's what they do. Sometimes they get caught, but often times they don't.

I'm not saying the Stand Down order was given from higher ups. But I do believe the guys that risked their lives heard a stand down order given.

Besides the stand down order, what else in this movie is complete fiction?

Denial of available air support also turned out to be a lie.

I mean when the right leaning Wall Street Journal calls the movie “grotesquely overblown” its not a real good idea to start using it as evidence to form your argument.

Fred, Jan, please don't turn this thread into another pissing match. You two need to put each other on ignore for a while and give it a rest.

I have no problem discussing this with Fred and Soybean, but you two trading insults for 2 pages per thread is getting old.

Amen

Do you have a link to that story? I'm happy to read it.

Which one? Denial of air service or what Wall Street Journal called the movie?

I meant the WSJ, but I'll take both.

I never was one who went out of my way to hang Hillary for this, so I didn't read a ton on this issue. Always open to reading up on it. What I had read about the movie was other than the stand down stuff, it went out of it's way to avoid politics and just show what these guys did that night. If that's wrong, we'll see.

Already linked the first one

From Joe Morgenstern of the WSJ --

“This is a true story,” a title card declares flatly in the opening sequence. Be that as it may, the movie is a relentlessly intense, grotesquely overblown and numbingly long account of extraordinary heroism on the part of six American security operators in the midst of horrific chaos.

From a recently released batch of Hillarys emails -
“I just tried you on the phone but you were all in with S [apparent reference to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton],” reads the email, from Panetta’s chief of staff Jeremy Bash. “After consulting with General Dempsey, General Ham and the Joint Staff, we have identified the forces that could move to Benghazi. They are spinning up as we speak".
Unfortunately they were never sent and the few brave folks that were there were left to fend for themselves.
There was shady shit going on in Benghazi and neither side wants it to get out as I'm sure both sides were in on it. None of them are trustworthy on Benghazi.
But to defend the assertion we did all we could to stop the attack and rescue those being attacked is utter bullshit. There is no way we couldn't get significantly more help there in under 8-13 hrs. No way.

all I originally said wAs the OP's link proved nothing either way

Which is still incorrect. The 7 paragraph in the OP's article which includes a link to a more detailed story of the 2 year probe. Did you read the article or just miss that paragraph?

The question of whether someone had issued a “stand down” has loomed over Benghazi since the immediate aftermath of the attacks. The initial speculation centered mainly on whether an official in Washington, including then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, had impeded rescue attempts — an allegation rejected by a series of congressional inquiries. A 2014 House Intelligence Committee report found “no evidence that there was either a stand down order or a denial of available air support.”
