Check out this video; the mom is Lisa Becker. I think she played 6 on 6 correct? She then played at Iowa from 1983-87.

Lisa's sister is head coach at Missouri, btw.

The Porters had 8 kids (5 boys, 3 girls).

Bri, a junior, on Missouri’s women’s basketball team
Cierra, a sophomore, on Missouri’s women’s basketball team
Michael Jr.
Jontay, a top 100 prospect in the Class of 2018
Coban, a rising freshman in HS
Jevon
Izaak

Jayda

Fran simply has to offer the dad a job on his staff!!!!

Pic of the family (Feb 2015). Interesting fact: Both Porter parents stand 6-foot-4

Wow, are they Mennonite, Catholic? Missouri seems like a good place for them. They have family there and the girls are already at the school.

the parents are very religious; both parents played for Athletes in Action, which is how they met (they bumped into each other as the dad was leaving practice and Lisa was heading to practice)

Lisa home schooled/ will home school all the kids thru the 8th grade

I'd been reading about the Porter family to Missouri deal but did not realize Lisa Becker was the mom. Their dad, Arlo Becker was involved with racing and demo derbys for a long time. My brother and his buddies had a demo car, and he remembers Lisa punching his pit pass :)

Hmmm. Maybe we get the last one like the Bohannon boys. Then again, their dad just signed a big fat contract with Mizzou so they are probably all going to stick there.

Interesting, the kids standing on dad's side look like dad, and the ones standing on mom's side look like mom.

I'm not being serious, though.

Won't you know it, Lisa's sister Robin played for Lisa Bluder at St. Ambrose University.

So Michael Porter Sr. took a spin at Washington for a year and came back from his sister-in-law's man to a new man. There's a great asset of having eight kids, and not as octuplets!

That's an interesting link you posted.

Lisa Becker Porter's sister (the head coach at Mizzou) hires her brother in law (Michael Porter) to be an assistant coach. 2 of the Porter girls then get full ride scholarships at Mizzou. Nice deal, huh?

Now, after being fired at Washington, Michael Porter offers himself and his son, Michael Jr (the #1 recruit in the nation), as a package deal and goes back to Mizzou to be an assistant mens basketball coach.

I don't think we should expect that with all the family connections at Missouri, that Mom's time at Iowa is going to matter much.

The zellers had family ties in Iowa and we didn't even get a sniff. Expect the porters to go where their bread is buttered on.

They got their height and athletic abilities obviously from their mother, but I'm sure like lavar ball the dad is running the show and could care less his wife went to Iowa.

Ball stated he choose his wife due to the fact his wife is tall and athletic (I'm sure that comment made his wife very happy) Lavar averaged .7 points per game in college so he knew his abilities would make good players.

Wondering if porter is the same type of dad as ball, we shall find out!
