Like many Hawkeye fans I was pissed beyond belief how Iowa pissed down their leg when the game mattered the most. They need to stop these mental errors that should be simple to correct, but can they execute? The game was lost obviously in the last 5 to 6 minutes of the game .. the game was over in my eyes when Byer ran into the ball.. speaking of that did anyone else feel he may of been pushed by a Badger player into the ball and KF should of tossed the flag to review it.. I feel the coaching staff made some very questionable calls in the game .. so many missed opportunities it makes me sick thinking about it. Anyways, that was one that definitely got a way from the Hawks and on a day where we were moving the ball pretty well with over 400 yards of offense. I truly felt before the Byer incident that we were going to buck up and pin our ears back and play some ass kicking defense to finish out the game.. then there was the fumble by Greuling (spelling)? That took the air out of the stadium. Like a wax museum stunned and bummed I wish I had a bottle of Jack I could of pulled a John Bulushi and chugged the **** out of it ... feels like being cut with a huge knife and then leaving a scar that is huge and will never go away.. just depressed about “What should of” “What could of been”

I bleed black and gold this will sting but a few more wins will ease the damn pain!

Yes he was pushed. I said this in another thread. “Many mistakes cost us the game. I’m no expert but I watched the Beyer punt in slow motion over and over and it appears 51 from Wisconsin pushed him into the ball just before his foot touched it. Wouldnt that have been Iowa’s ball? I wonder why it wasn’t reviewed.”

Besides the two mistakes by the Hawks special teams,
there was another factor that decided the game.
Wisconsin had the football for 11 more minutes in time
of possession. This helped to tire out our defense
in the 4th quarter and prevented us from being on offense.

EXACTLY! Why wasn’t the staff on top of this he sure in the hell was pushed into the football... the staff at times needs to grow a pair .. thanks for sharing the photo bro..

Some of that time though was as a result of the turnovers on the punts.

At this point, what are they playing for? Basically just a better bowl. 2 games behind Wisconsin in division means thats gone. Citrus or Outback is what you are looking at at best. 8 games to go, but it sure feels over. One thing is for sure. Plenty of tix available the rest of the year.

I think Wisconsin is definitely beatable this year, wont be surprised if they lose twice actually to Michigan and Penn State. Iowa just has a very small margin for error now.

I’m rooting for holiday bowl to be honest, never been to San Diego.

We have a good team and I am excited for the remainder of the season. Chances for a division title are all but over though.

The season is far from over. We lost our shot for the West almost for sure, but we can still get 10 wins which would be most excellent.

No, he wasn't pushed. Beyer came up to up and engaged him Wisconsin defender. It would have been different if Beyer was just standing and the guy came up and pushed him into it.

Iowa has gotten better each week on offense. They have made a lot of dumb mistakes in the first few weeks and it finally bit them in this game. However, they have yet to play a clean game which is encouraging because this team has a high ceiling and if they can keep working on getting better this is a team that has the potential to win out. Just need to focus on the details.

Anybody who thinks Wisconsin is suddenly invincible doesn't know college football and didn't pay very close attention Saturday night. I expect Wisconsin to lose both @ Michigan and @ Penn State. And as everyone should recognize, almost anything--other than Alabama losing--can and usually does happen in college football. It's even possible, although unlikely, that Iowa could win out and, if Wisconsin does lose those two road games mentioned, win the West. Likely? No. But possible? Absolutely.

After all, Old Dominion just scored 49 points in beating #13 Virginia Tech. And ten years ago, Old Dominion didn't even have a football team.... Almost anything is possible. It's a tad early to give up on the Hawkeyes, despite that gut-wrenching loss Saturday night.

This, Beyer initiated contact and shouldn't have been anywhere near the ball.

Great point I didn't realize until now that both IA and WI play at Penn St. There were a lot of positives from the game Saturday night; I need to work on my own version of the '24 hour rule'.

And not only that, but Wisconsin's visits to Northwestern and Purdue may not be gimme's either, so yah, losing to the Badgers again, like that, was a huge opportunity lost. But if Iowa can do its part, it may not be the end of the season after all. Lots of football left, and who knows what can happen....

Yes, and those two special teams mistakes lead directly to them having the ball more we missed out on two possessions, just can't do that against a good team.

Wow. You're a great fan. So you think Wisconsin is going to steamroll both Michigan and Penn St on the road? Wisconsin isn't unbeatable.

Because as a returner your taught to get away from the ball. Beyer is running up engaging the Wisky player and just cause he gets pushed back he’s still in the wrong spot. Should of bailed out and left it alone.

I don't understand why so many people are writing this season off. Wisconsin has looked WAY more beatable this year than in previous seasons. Their defense looked confused and out of place against what's been a pedestrian Iowa offense. How do you think they'll fair against an offense like Penn State's and even Michigan's...? And I give Hornibrook tons of credit for that last drive but in the first three quarters, he made plenty of questionable throws that are intercepted by any other team with better cornerbacks. I hope Iowa uses this as fuel for the rest of the season because this team is SO talented.

Lets sum the season up so far.

3 good wins and a should have been win in a game that most people had at 50/50 to begin with.

Wisconsin looks shaky and has a rough schedule...they are going to lose a couple of games. The issue is we have to run it out.

It would be interesting to see the odds on Iowa winning the West. I would say it would be 5:1 at best now. I'm not saying the season is over, but odds would probably need to be 10:1 before I'd put money on Iowa to win it.

why should our staff have to do something and then the one time a call goes our way, they instant review it for wiscy?
Some bosheet!

Got a long ways to go on offense. I think the defense will be fine moving forward as we will not see that good of OLINE the rest of the season.

Offense has to become more consistent and do what’s working. Quit running the ball and then going 5 wide the next play?? Find an identity and stick with it. BF also has to grow some balls and try some trick plays during the game. And for god sakes our special teams have to improve.

If you think the Hawkeyes can run the table then anything is still possibl

Yes sir. We have to run the table and they have to lose 2 games. I think they will, but I don't think we will run the table. I hope they prove me dead wrong.

Oh,da, coulda, woulda, shoulda, a few years ago in Madison, the Hawks were helpless on offense and Chryst allowed Stave to throw needless Ints for your only scores( if we played ten more quarters That game, Hawks weren’t scoring on that Badger defense) and then Badgers were driving for the game winner and the OL stepped on Staves foot to cause a fumble in the red zone.
If Hawks are the better team, you will win out and the Badgers being the worse team will lose 2-3 more games, if not, you lost (again) and just aren’t that good YET, with this group.
Next year both teams should be much, much better.

The center was driven back into the QB by one of our tackles. I know you'd like to think it was just an unforced error and Iowa got lucky, but Iowa made that happen.
