I didn't even need to read the story to know why...

The Blues defended the decision, citing ticket demand after their Stanley Cup championship.

I used to go every year and get good seats for less than $20. Those days are gone for a while with them being the defending champions and top team in the conference again.

St. Louis lost their NFL team and their
NBA team to other cities. Now they
have the MLB Cardinals and the NHL
Blues to keep happy in the city that is
the GateWay to the West.

I know. That’s my team. I used to take the family there every year when they were on the rise, but the same thing (of course) happened when they won the Stanley Cup. 2010 was already getting to be a tough ticket. First year we had to do the nosebleed seats.

i'm taking my son up to MINN in 2 weeks for our first NHL game...i'll support the Iowa Wild but Blackhawks fan since 88...he of course will cheer for the Wild

2022.

And the title of this thread is incorrect.

It should be:

The St. Louis Blues are the defending Stanley Cup Champions and will pound Boston and make Marchand cry like a little girl again.
Blues/ Avs would be a fun 7 game series to watch. Here's hoping it is for the West title.

It’s a great environment in Excel. Been to a few games.

Not this year. My Blue Jackets are going to take them out before you get another shot at them.

Side note: Your team went from having one of the worst jersey's in the league, to having one of the best...

hoping since it's St. Patrick's day that i might be able to get a steal on tickets, but i'm not holding my breath
When the wild are good they might be the most expensive secondary market ticket in nhl. I paid well over $120 a ticket after fees for upper deck last season.

if you only need a pair you might find something really nice.

once my son and I didn’t care if we sat together. Got some singles down very low on the glass. It was incredible.

still a lot of regular tickets through Xcel avaliable...and some of the exchange prices are better in some areas and worse in others...like you said...depends on how much you care about where you sit.

High ticket demand doesn't explain why they couldn't hold a "Hockey is for Everyone" night during an actual live home game. They have three (3) separate Scout Nights this year, but not a night for celebrating diversity and inclusion. Ticket demand is sky high in Chicago and Dallas and Colorado and Vegas and Toronto and Nashville and Pittsburgh and Boston too. And yet all of those teams managed to find a spot in their 41-game home schedule for "Hockey is for Everyone" night.

I poorly worded that. I meant "I knew what their excuse would be".

I do know the Cardinals have a promotion for this. Remember ad drops for it for a month prior on their telecasts. The giveaway was some sort of rainbow colored Cardinals shirt.

I'm taking my son to that game also - Blackhawks on the 17th. If you don't mind sitting in the nosebleeds, the Wild have a promotion for that game with Minnesota Hockey for youth hockey players. If you use the code "youthmn", you can get $39 tickets and they don't validate that the child is a youth hockey player. We use the promotion to get to a game every year.

Thanks, will keep this in mind. I do see seats for $39 in the nosebleeds for that game so maybe i don't need the code.

The kid is 7 and got picked to be in the JR crash course this past season and loves it...it's his spring break trip, so to speak.

My son is 7 also and likewise loves hockey. Unfortunately for him, we live in Edina, which was recently named the center of hockey in the US by ESPN (although that didn't sit well with, and was disputed by, a lot of other Minnesotans) . It means that the hockey program is awesome, but that the competition is unreal. Since I never played hockey and didn't get him on skates within 5 minutes of his first steps, he is at a competitive disadvantage. He has two Wild players and a retired NHL player with kids in the program in his age group. No big deal, especially at the mites level, but high school or A level hockey is probably not realistic, although you never know. As long as he keeps loving it, and as long as there is a team for him, whether its A, B, or C level, we'll keep signing him up.

yeah, Des Moines isn't that competitive yet...but it's certainly expanding and in need of lots more ice rinks to facilitate the current level, and the growth to come.

I swear, the only drawback to seeing your team win a championship is the inevitable increase in ticket prices. I can still remember the old Checkerdome days in St Louis and getting cheap tickets with about 11,000 other Blues fans on a Friday night. Those were the days.

And how can ticket prices be so different? Last year, we got Leafs tickets in Toronto in the top row of the nose bleeds for like $85. The following night, scored third row seats behind the goal in Buffalo for about $35.

Same thing with Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans tickets. Texans are a reasonable $45 a ticket. Forget getting that in Dallas.

Yeah, okay. I’d take that bet. Blues will get hammered. They got lucky last year, but I’m sure you know that.
