The year we put up 50 on both OSU and Neb

The Ohio St. game was awesome and completely unexpected. The Nebraska game was expected. Maybe not to win by that much but I would have been disapointed if we lost to the 2nd worst team we had on our schedule, record wise.

Such is the Kirk conundrum. How can you put up 50 on Nebraska and Ohio State... yet lose to Purdue at home.

Though the 50 on Nebraska deserves an *, they just gave up in the second half. Consider this...Nebraska gave up an average of 36 1/2 points a game. Wow.

Yeah, we gripe about 7-5 but we destroyed the Buckeyes and Huskers. That will always make a year successful. Now if we can only win the bowl game it’ll all be good.
What is significant about the Huskers? Are you equating them with the Ohio State Buckeyes? Do you consider them in the same league?

Easy to be disappointed

1. Losing big ten record
2. Lost at home to Purdue
3. 66 yards of offense against Wisconsin

Honestly if we would have lost to Ohio State and ended 6-6 with the win at Nebraska I would have been less disappointed - I was content with the season until they looked all world and got my hopes up

The second worst team on our schedule was also bowl eligible?? We played a tough schedule ...nothing to be ashamed about!

I think what was frustrating about this season was not going 7-5, but HOW we got there. Demolishing Ohio State the way we did showed us the roster’s potential. Losing to Wisconsin the way we did sucked but the loss to Purdue with the lack of effort displayed hurts the most. L

With as many question marks as we had entering the season, going 7-5 against the #4th toughest schedule is okay, but they really need a win in the bowl game, or at bare minimum a good showing to build momentum towards next season, when the schedule opens up a lot.

After tonight's game the results Iowa had against Wisconsin and Ohio state might make more sense. The Purdue game I've got no comment

Happens all the time throughout College Football, yet people on here act like it is only Iowa.

How did ISU beat Oklahoma and TCU, yet lose some of the games they lost.

How did Northwestern have the season they have, after losing to Duke?

If Iowa should be capable of beating an OSU occasionally, then why shouldn't it be possible for a lower ranked team to beat Iowa occasionally?

Would you give up the OSU win in exchange for Purdue and Northwestern?

No one would remember that an 8-4 Iowa team beat Purdue and Northwestern. The entire country knows about that OSU game. Including a bunch of recruits, both at the game and watching on TV.

That is not how I define success, but to each his own I guess

Our offense is terrible I don't care how many games we won. I want to see a competent offense. Only looking at our record way over simplifies the state of the program.

Looks like Iowa will be putting 50+ up plenty against Nebraska. Along with the rest of the Big 10
Impossible, the messiah, Scott Frost, will be arriving and lead them back to a national championship. They may never lose another BIG game. ;)

You considering going 7-5 and blowing out a garbage Nebraska team with one of the worst defenses in the country a successful season. You've got very low standards. Are you sure you didnt used to be an Iowa State fan and just became an Iowa fan? The Ohio State game was a pleasant surprise but it is the most unexplainable outcome this year in college football.. In fact, that outcome should make you mad because it shows the potential we have and didnt live up to by scoring 10 pts in multiple losses and losing at home to friggin Purdue.

We also put up 10 points against Michigan State, 10 points against Northwestern, 17 points against Minnesota, 15 points against Purdue, and 14 points (all by the defense) against Wisconsin.

I only lump OSU and Nebraska together in level of hate. They are the only 2 team on the schedule that make me smile when I see them lose. Program wise they are at opposite ends of the spectrum, but they both carry the same level of arrogance. When they play each other I root for a tornado to destroy the stadium.

Mainly because Nebraska is a horrific train wreck.
