A Wisconsin insurance executive and Republican donor was charged with voting illegally more than a dozen times in four elections.

The Journal-Sentinel reported that 50-year-old Robert Monroe was caught as a result of an investigation into a possible illegal voting by his son in Waukesha County. But after his son denied requesting an absentee ballot from his father's address in Shorewood, suspicion turned to Monroe.

A complaint claimed that Monroe voted five times in Gov. Scott Walker's (R) recalled election. He also was accused of voting illegally in a 2011 Wisconsin Supreme Court election, a 2012 primary, and the 2012 presidential election.

Although the complaint did not state who Monroe voted for, WISN determined that he had donated money to Republican state Sen. Alberta Darling.

Prosecutors used Monroe's cell phone records to prove that he traveled all the way to Indiana to cast a second vote in the 2012 presidential election. Prosecutors also tested some of the ballots for genetic material, and only found DNA belonging to Monroe.

In May of 2012, prosecutors said that Monroe begged his ex-wife, sons and brother to register to vote in a text message.

"You must go to city hall and register to vote," the message said. "Every vote will be needed!... Please please please."

According to the complaint, Monroe worked as an executive in the health care industry. His LinkedIn page indicated that he was an insurance executive, who said he loved "the thrill of the hunt, leading teams and developing new business."

For his part, Monroe insisted to investigators that he did not remember voting in the elections because he takes drugs for Attention Deficit and Obsessive Compulsive disorders.

Monroe faces 13 felony election fraud charges in all, including voting more than once, voting as a disqualified person, registering in more than one place, and providing false information to election officials. He could spend up to 18 months in prison, and pay a $10,000 fine for each charge.

His next court date was set for July 17.

Want to bet this one gets swept under the rug by conservatives?

I find it not odd at all that dems will see voter fraud in the bush 2000 election, no problem, and any repubber including walker, but no, not Obama in 2008. oh no, not him. even though the crime was done to Hillary, a fellow dem, but no, that never happened.

Oh no...this is just the one who got caught. Cons have overturned voting laws based on NOT finding fraud. I think we now have sufficient evidence to overturn an election.

No there isn't.

I would also love that Dems to start acknowledging voter fraud exists.

The first step is admitting there is a problem.

But cons keep saying there's in-person voter fraud is occurring despite a lack of evidence. That lack of evidence is apparently evidence of a problem......

OH... NOW I get it.

A lack of evidence is evidence of fraud but actual evidence of fraud is evidence that it's too minor to worry about. Damn, you guys are slick.

BYW, this guy was apparently voting as himself...a voter ID requirement would have been worthless.

The article makes it sound like he may have also voted absentee as his son. Cons never seem to show as much concern regarding absentee voting.

We'll we could change nothing and hope it gets better as you are advocating, but I believe that is the definition of insanity.

dems getting way out in front of the coming 2016 Hillary disaster: the excuses are here before us already

You're not paying attention. There's no evidence that impersonator in-person voting fraud IS a problem. So you're "fixng" a problem that doesn't exist. And you ignore the REAL problems like registration fraud and absentee ballot fraud. And here's a con committing both. But YOU claim it's NOT a problem. Just 5 votes, you said.

Yet. you'll go apoplectic over voter ID, claiming, "If just ONE SINGLE FRAUDULENT VOTE is prevented, IT'S WORTH IT!!!!"

Hypocrisy at it's finest.

Well that's cute considering your first point was it doesn't matter.

I hate this definition. You do the same thing all the time and get different results. Insanity is thinking you control everything that happens.

the reason there's no evidence of in person voter fraud is because they do it electronically behind the scenes and by writing in stuff. they did it -and it was well known they did it -in 2008 for barak. and they used black panthers armed guards at the polling places, so that when people were afraid to walk past them and vote, the black panthers were heard saying, "that's a vote for barak, don't worry, we'll write you down for barak, drive away now!"

nobody was seen in person doing fraud because it was done behind the scenes

either vote in person for barak, or behind the scenes for him, but either way your vote goes to barak

You heard them say that all the way down there in Texas. Those tinfoil ears must really be nice.

ID laws and IT infrastructure would have prevented him from registering in multiple counties.

So, I have your support?

How, specifically, would ID laws have helped?

Maybe because absentee voting skews right. Interesting, huh?
Maybe it's because the claim is bullshit. Most conservatives are very suspicious of absentee voting....and people like you claim it's because they don't want minorities to vote.

I have said numerous times that I'd like to see a return to the days when you needed a pretty damned good excuse to get an absentee ballot.

It's BS that absentee voting skews GOP? You might want to check that. And despite your skills, I'm not sure you can speak for "most conservatives".

I bet if he were non-white, on welfare and had 8 kids it wouldn't be called fraud.

If he did all this, he needs to be held accountable (ADHD\OCD aside).

After reading the whole thread it is clear that voter fraud is only important when it is committed by the other side.

Sounds reasonable to me.

Well, given that I've been calling for a complete overhaul and upgrade of the voter registration system every time voter fraud comes up, yeah, I'm in. Now get your state legislatures to raise taxes so they can afford to pay for it because it won't be cheap. And given that there is absolutely no demonstrated need for ID laws, I'm still at a loss as to why THAT'S the centerpiece of your so-called "election reform".

I suspect it just became far less reasonable to many cons.

oh, is this why they purposely lost all the military and overseas votes in 2008 and 2012, because it would have skewed gop and got McCain and romney in? at least you admit it!!!

Ok, say this is true. Voter IDs wouldn't touch this problem. So what's the real reason Rs want them?

And yet that's not in the ID bills. Why is that?

When Kennedy beat Nixon, there was huge voter fraud in
Chicago and this gave Illinois to Kennedy. Nixon refused
to press charges.

Give Illinois to Nixon. Kennedy still wins. And it was originally Ike who encouraged Nixon but he very quickly backed off and Nixon felt like he had to drop the matter...he didn't do it for the "good of the country", he dropped it because Ike wouldn't support it.

And the GOP VIGOROUSLY disputed the results, filing challenges in 11 states. In Illinois they repeatedly refused to accept the results of recounts and even discounted the ruling of the Illinois State Board of Elections...which was composed of four Republicans, including the governor, and one Democrat.

No, it's bullshit that conservatives support absentee voting. I'll take your word for the statement that absentees lean Republican -- even though the opposite is definitely the case in Iowa.
