Just got back to Iowa from Indianapolis about an hour to go with the wife and my son. We also met my brother who flew in from Denver, none of us had tickets. Scalpers were asking for 400+ a ticket and the prices on StubHub never came down even after kickoff. So, we watched the game in a hotel lobby for the first half. At halftime we decided to go walk around and see if anyone was still scalping. After walking around the entire stadium and seeing no one, we noticed the ticket office was still open just before heading back to the hotel. We walked up and got 4 seats together for $70 each. The lady said they started having tickets released to them at the beginning of the game. I have no idea where the tickets came from, but I believe there were quite a few. The announced attendance was 66985 and capacity is 67000. Glad we made the trip, hell of an experience.
Some of you probably won't believe me, but whatever.

So you came all the way down here and spent $70/ticket to watch a half of football and got back to Iowa an hour ago, driving I assume?

I believe you but, personally, I wouldn't be telling the world as it sounds like you wasted a lot of time and money.

No they didn't. Time spent with the wife and son is never wasted time.

How is road tripping with your family and catching the 2nd half of what was arguably a top 3 game this season (given the stakes and competition level ) a waste of time/money?

Pretty sure it was a sellout. Don't quote me on this but I believe they reopen tickets sales at a certain point for possibly unclaimed or returned tickets. So it technically was a sellout if though some tickets were available late. I am sure someone can confirm or correct me on this

I am assuming you got the tickets for Elvis that Jerry Granville left and the tickets Ricky Bobby left for his dad.
coorperate no show tickets at WILL Call window..teams leave tickets also for past players/guest...etc

I purchased 2 of the $70 dollars tickets too but it was about 5 minutes after kickoff. It was a sellout. I have done it several times and a few people knew it was coming including scalpers. I offered to buy tickets for much more but no one took my offer. It all worked out for the best in the end. I never made it to my seats I stood for the entire game on the concourse.

I have a friend who went to the game with me last night. He is a ND grad and huge Irish fan. He is also a colts season ticket holder. We sat in the 600s section and when Tevaun caught the TD pass he said that was the loudest Lucas Oil Stadium ever got while he was there.

He couldn't get over how many Hawkeyes fans were there.
