Honestly, we didn’t look great at the beginning of the season. Needed OT, to beat Drake, and dropped some games we shouldn’t have. But this team is clicking right now. Count me as a believer.
Why not? Isn’t winning the Big Ten a reason to “get carried away”? This team has a legit chance at doing that.
Eh...if you don't think this Iowa team is a legit top 10 team then I don't know what to say. They are a legit top 4 team in my opinion, just given the way they have absolutely dismantled other top 10 teams. Remember, Scizano was injured and not playing and Clark was playing with a hurt knee during those games so they weren't at full strength. I think someone else was hurt and not playing too, but I could be misremembering. We'll find out Thursday if they are just top 10 or top 4 though. At Indiana is a tough game, for sure.
Fair enough. I looked it up and it was Kate Martin who missed time in that period. But I remember hearing about several other injuries that were bothering players during that time and Clark would miss time during the game because of them as well. They weren't on TV as much then though so it was harder for me to follow them.
Really good defender but cannot throw it in the ocean this year. It is amazing how off her shot is.
I would love it if Marshall found her shot again, but Pann State’s Marias average 18 ppg between the two times they played Iowa. Guarded by Marshall, Marisa scored a goal of 14 points in two games. In both games, Marisa had the worst +/- for Penn State at -45 and -43. That doesn’t happen without Marshall.

Yes, its easy to overlook Marshall's value as a defensive specialist. She will continue to get open looks from the 3PT line until her shot comes arond again.
They are playing better than I’ve ever seen them play. But yeah, if you’ve ever played competitive basketball, you know you have good games and bad, and ups and downs throughout a long season. As someone who has played and coached basketball for most of my life, I can assure you, this is a pretty damn good team. Consistent defensive intensity is the key. If they can lock in, they are a tough out.
I'm old. Played intramural 3 on 3 women's basketball while at Iowa. Found it slow, dull and boring. Never had any desire to follow the sport afterward. I was clueless as to how much the women's game has changed to be what it is today. It's been a real awakening for me. I'm happy to admit that I have been totally won over. Proof that you can teach an old dog new tricks.
If you look at her frame overall, most of the added bulk is in her legs and backside. She's strong from the waist down which allows for those logo bombs she puts up. The long jumper is shot with the legs....
Four games this year. Missed by a single assist against Minnesota and Nebraska while being one rebound shy against Northwestern and Michigan State.
