With this conf/non-conf schedule, there was no way I thought they would make the tourny let alone win the 1st game in 14 years! Hats off, especially to White!

I'm very impressed with the team this year. They exceeded my expectations. If we beat Penn State and win another game in the Big Ten tourney, we're probably in the sweet 16.

As it happened, we simply drew a team in Gonzaga that is very good. No shame in that loss and it takes away nothing from this season.

When you take a step back and think how far Fran has brought this program in such a short time, you can't help but be impressed. We were in the cellar when he took the reigns.

Agree. Just needed about 3 more wins. P St, Minn, and NW, win those and we're probably a 5 or 4 seed. Then our chances for a sweet 16 greatly improve.

My buddy said that yesterday was the 5 year anniversary of Lickliter getting canned. Fran has done a Tremendous job of bringing Iowa basketball back. You think about it 5 years ago we were coming off an 11-20somethign season. Our 3rd season in a row and Fran steps in and 5 short years later we were one of the best 32 teams in the nation. Great Job Fran and I think we continue to go up from here.

I thought about that in the 2nd half. While disappointed that Iowa was going to lose, I thought, Im watching Iowa play in the round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament again. There are a ton of programs and fanbases that would love to be in that position.

Thank you to the players and coaching staff for a great year of basketball. And especially thanks to the Seniors for all the hard work they put in. Good luck in your future, I know you will be successful in whatever path you take.

Am I the only one who expected this to be a sweet 16 team? I am feeling pretty disapointed in how the season ended given the regular season. Zero conference tourney wins and 1 NCAA tourney win over Davidson...nothing to really write home about.

Iowa very well may have been a sweet 16 team this year had they been matched up with one of several other teams. It's still a lot of luck. Hell, look at UCLA.

the Lick year left he had a 10 win season
Fran's 1st season 11 wins
2nd season 18 wins
3rd season 25 wins NIT championship game
4th season 20 wins 1st NCAA Tourney appearance
5th season 22 wins 1st tourney win since the 2000-01 season

finishing in a T-3rd the best finish since 2005-06 when SA finished in a T-2nd and before that 1998-99 season under Dr. Tom

with white as the starter Fran's team just set the ALL TIME wins with a 4 year starter with 85 wins.

that may be end up short lived as Gesell and Woody will be 4 year starters this fall and they need just 18 games to equal and 19 wins to surpass that total. after next season it might be awhile before IA has another 4 year starter.

Guido, don't you know anything? This team was a bunch of gutless b%**tches....and losers. Just ask Ironfist1776. Didn't you read his post in 'New system...' thread? I don't know how you can argue with his logic, kool-aid drinker:)

P.S.- I don't know why everyone thinks drinking kool-aid is some sort of 'bad' thing? I love kool-aid! Grape is my favorite!

I have followed Iowa basketball since the 1970's. There have been many teams that have done as well as this team, but not a lot of them have done any better. It is easy to think of the what ifs, and to get frustrated at times, but all you can really ask for is a chance. This team gave us a chance, and that is very much appreciated.

One additional point...I would also like to thank this staff and team for playing an exciting brand of basketball. Its apparent that Fran and company realize that Iowa basketball, win, lose, or draw, is and should be about playing fast and applying pressure. Keep it going!

I don't play basketball, so not sure why you are asking who I lost to? I don't claim to be a fan of either iowa or ISU. I prefer UNI, so this is an objective view. Iowa had a poor ending given their resume.

There are always 67 NCAA teams that feel their last game should have gone better.

Sure, there are a few games I'd like to have back this season that would've improved our NCAA seed and odds of making a Sweet 16 or better, but if offered back in November a 7 seed and a second round loss, I surely would've taken it. It was a good season - first NCAA win in 14 years. Progress is progress.

The question is what happens from here - losing some key players now, but I have faith in Fran that we'll continue to be competitive in the coming years. I just hope he can build on the recent success and do even better, rather than having peaked.
