This whole "we are disrespected!" story line is beyond annoying

Mocking my insider information that I share here (in this thread and over the past few years, which isn't creepy at all!) indicates it strongly.

I got a chuckle out of you deleting your previous post where you quoted Pepperman's post to prove me wrong, only to realize that I am not Pepperman. Then, instead of admitting your mistake, you double down and say that you proved me wrong simply because I had the audacity to mock your need to brag about providing insider scoops to internet strangers.

You're a hoot, steve.

So you're saying you admit I've broken plenty of stories here, and all your poster-chasing of me over the years is completely normal?

Teldar was the one with the 17 page hypothesis about how an undefeated Iowa team would be 10th in the country.
Yes, Teldar was the poster that insisted the Hawks would not make the playoffs even if they won out.
Where did that guy go?

Remind me again what news you've broken around here? And yes I know it's hard to post breaking stories when you spend over 2 hours a day commuting on I-25.

And I will be seeing my source tomorrow when he picks me up at the Indy airport. I will get my regular info and debate whether or not it's worth sharing here.

This actually, literally made me chuckle out loud.

Did he really take a swipe at fans who didn't attend Iowa in this thread? I didn't go to UI for either of my degrees but I'll still be cheering in Indy tomorrow. What does that have to do with anything?

LMAO, you are so pathetic dude.....you do realize that in almost every thread you get made fun of......it is so hilarious that you actually think we buy your inside info BS.....

This is one topic I actually agree on with sp.

The whole "we're getting disrespected" line of thinking from a fan's perspective astounds me. We've had entire lifetimes to build a scab to this...toughen up a little.

No matter what, until Iowa proves they can play and win against the big boys, the pundits and fans of those teams will question our team, and rightfully so. You have to understand their perspective, and proof they provide to back up their views - which tells us wherther they did a drive-by in rubber-stamping the "we don't belong" narrative. The ones who dig deep tend to give Iowa more relevancy...the ones who don't rip into Iowa.

Anybody who digs even 15 minutes deep can see that it is true, Iowa has not played an Alabama or OSU this year - yet compared to other teams that also did not play those types of teams, Iowa tops them all.

It is really, truly hard to go 12-0. They deserve credit for that...but it is possible to quantify that 12-0. I can accept that as long as they take a deep look at Iowa.

As a fan, you just have to take it all in stride. Luckily, Iowa gets to prove whether they belong tomorrow night.

I know Steven is not a popular guy, but I am wholeheartedly behind him on this. The only way "disrepect" should concern us if we were in a position to be left out of the CFP if we won the BigTen. Otherwise, who cares what people think? We'll all see soon enough how we really stack up.

I absolutely agree with you (and steven). However, for steven to preach that we should let our actions speak for themselves and that we shouldn't care so much what people think is pure irony. This is the same guy that comes to the boards to brag that he is the reason his high school has break-away rims, to brag that he made big money on sports bets, to brag about his "inside sources" and basically anything else under the sun (e.g., Seattle sweetcorn, wedding invitations).

When anyone calls him out on his BS, he throws a hissy fit. He's told posters that he'd introduce them to his fists if he ever sees them. He repeatedly asks posters what news they've ever broken on these boards and compares them to his own stories. Anyone who dares to disagree with him receives belittling posts in response that include detail about why steven's life is better.

steven is right in his original post, but that doesn't mean people shouldn't call him out on his hypocritical bullshit.

One last note: steven's repeated display of arrogance, hypocrisy, and logical fallacies are also what makes him the most entertaining poster on this site. The same characteristics are what makes TV/radio personalities like Finebaum and Cowherd entertaining. I'm convinced steven is just a troll that enjoys creating a stir for laughs, and I am also convinced Finebaum and Cowherd say such negative things about Iowa to get a rise and attention from Iowa fans. Some people may hate them, but they are also what makes following sports and debating an entertaining activity. All good stories have antagonists for a reason, and guys like steven, Finebaum, and Cowherd play those roles well.

I still believe that all good message boards have paid posters who are employed to stir the pot. I once posted on HROT my theory, and Kakert himself stated "that type of ideology for this site is not in our business plan" or something like that.

Which leads me to believe that it is done on some boards.

Every popular board has internet tough guys, stevenpatrick clones, etc...contrarians. A lot of them I believe would never say to anyone's face some of the things that they post about. I have to believe in some fashion, there are people who are pupously set up to be a "post driver" by those boards.

I mean, how does one explain dacoach? And his 2,000 side profiles? Who could be that dedicated to being a first round draft choice douchenozzle unless they were paid to be?

Actions speak louder than words, so if we beat MSU we have proven our point-that we belong. All this whining about the national pundits make us sound like whiny ISU/Nebraska fans. I really wish our fans would handle this rare bit of success a bit better. It really is embarrassing to our fan base and team.

Why do you care about the opinions other Iowa fans are expressing if you don't care what the national pundits say? In other words, why do all Iowa fans have to have the same opinion about what national pundits say? Surely we can handle a diversity of opinions from a large fanbase. I would hope so. In a way, I feel the same as you in the sense that I don't care that the pundits think this or that. I disagree with the pundits, but it does't bother me that they feel differently. To be honest, it amuses me because their justifications for their opinions are so ridiculous. At the same time, though, it doesn't bother me that other Hawk fans are upset about the team being disrespected. I don't feel the same way that they do, but I respect them because (1) they are Hawkeye fans and I love all Hawkeye fans because I'm a Hawkeye, and (2) I recognize that they are passionate about Hawkeye football and have seen enough in this team that they believe that the Hawks warrant more respect from national pundits.

Bottom line ... let it go, brother. No one is handling success poorly here because there is no one "correct" way to respond to success. We're winning, enjoy it.

I am not saying SP is incorrect about the thread, I could actually care less if our fan base feels respected or disrespected. I just find it hilarious the SP is still going on on about this "inside source" crap that we all know is completely BS and then to top it off SP is preaching on here about how much better he is than other posters for whatever reason he comes up with this week. It is so pathetic it is pure entertainment. So please SP carry on with your BS

Hubbard leaving. Hampton injury. Wegher and Arob's issues. Hill's status. CJ being called starter. To name a few.

And I'm clearly not a Lounge member, so you can put that rumor to rest. I know it's hard for common folk to swallow the bitter pill of reality that others may know more than them.
Let us know how bitter the pill of douche bag tastes....

I don't care what experts think or say about the Hawks. I also don't care if some folks whine, or some folks whine about whiners.

I do care that we are 12-0 and I hope for 13-0. And yes that record is very rare for many teams, maybe some fans don't handle it as well as others.

It is a message board and you can always do what I do if a thread annoys me. Stay out of the thread. Simple really.

Yes, but if this "disrespect" keeps the chip on the shoulders of the players, then it's a good thing.

That appears to be the case.

Go Hawks!
