Like many of you, I made the trek over the weekend to watch the Hawks in person. Couple quick thoughts:

1. MSU fans I encountered were a ton of fun. Good natured ribbing by both sides but overall impressed with MSU fanbase.

2. Hell of a game. Hell of a heart breaker ending but the Hawkeyes fought till the very end. Can't be upset with the effort. MSU impressed me (specifically their front 7 defensively.)

3. This was my first Big Ten Championship event experience. Never attended the mens bbtourney or any other. But I will say this. After experiencing that enormous Hawkeye party for 72 straight hours I will be making every effort to attend the mens bball tourney/fbcg etc in the future. There is no substitute for being there in person and partying it up with tens of thousands of Hawk fans. Truly the best fans in college sports.

4. The game atmosphere was unreal. For being a neutral site it sure felt like a home game for the Hawks. The fans brought it. Again: Best fans in college sports.

5. Wish I could afford to go to Pasadena. GO WIN THE ROSE HAWKS!

Agreed with all the above. I would add that it was refreshing during the media timeouts to see highlights and stats repeatedly instead of the "kiss cam brought to you by..." Or whatever else sponsored. I know it's a pro stadium but I really enjoyed the production of the event.

Where did you party with MSU fans? I barely saw any while tailgating. I almost saw as many fans from other schools as I did for MSU. It's like they all slept in and made the trip just for the game. They had a good, loud group at the game but there wasn't many of them to be seen partying downtown.

As for the stadium, I liked it but thought info available on the score boards sucked. The only place I could see the down and distance was on a little banner score board in the endzone. Other than that it was a great atmosphere and a ton of fun. Felt like a home game from the start.

Agree there were not a ton. I saw some in the game day area, some at the bards ie Howl at the Moon and Pearl Street Pizzeria. Others in the game day experience sections. You are correct there were probably 5 Iowa fans for every 1 MSU fan but still I interacted/visited with some Spartan fans.

Also agree that the down/distance and scoreboards were terrible in the stadium. Would have been nice to have a scoreboard of other games going on.

Such as the ACC and Pac-12 championship games and........and..........well, I guess you'd probably want to know what happened in the NBA and NHL too, I suppose.

Still can't believe how many Hawk fans that were there. Kind of felt bad for the Spartans celebrating with an almost empty stadium.
