Three plays that stick in my craw the most @ Kinnick.

1. Wisconsin fake punt.
2. Terrell Pryor scrambling for 1st down on 4th and 10.
3. Bobby Oliver - Ohio State game.

Was at The Vine when the Wisconsin fake punt happened. Entire place went from loud and raucous to silent in a matter of seconds. That was really depressing, thanks for bringing it up....ha

I agree with this for the most part. Don't forget about Montee Ball's diving catch for Wisconsin after the fake punt for a first down on fourth down. Amazing catch he had.

All good ones but the one I will never forget is the Northwestern game where a zebra three a flag from the end zone at least 45 yards from the line of scrimmage after an Iowa player made a catch at the 15 yard line. To make matters worse, he called a hold on a lineman.

Iowa’s final offensive series against North Dakota State last year.
Hey, I’ve got a great idea, let’s run up the middle. Hasn’t worked all the second half, but surely it will work this time. Wow, didn’t work again.

If you had to pick 3 "series" or "halves" as opposed to one play... the above would definitely be on that list. So would Iowa's offensive (pun intended) second half against ISU in 2014. (eerily similar to NDSU 2016).

The third entry? ...

Sorry I don't recall the Bobby Olive play. At the risk of irritating people, please remind us.

And I'm with you, the other 2 were brutal.

OSU home game in 90'. Actually the play that drove me nuts was Merton Hanks not batting the ball down in the last play of the first half which ended up being deflected and OSU scored. Completely different game at that point after we had dominated the entire first half.

Bobby Olive to this day makes me upset.

I was a kid then and we were ranked pretty high...think around #6 or so.

Hatred of OSU hasnt stopped since; always the team we play awful against for some reason.

tOSU scored on the last play of each half..the game winner was to Bobby Oliver.

Freak TD to end the first half here.

Iowa was undefeated going into this game.

1. Whatever play it was that Brad Banks hurt his thumb on in 2002 vs ISU. That injury caused him to lose two fumbles in the 2nd half that led to their comeback. If that doesn't happen and we manage to win the rest of the games like we did, we may have ended up in the BCS championship game since voters were looking for a reason to jump us over OSU when they were squeaking out wins at the end of the season while we were dominating.

2. Wooten sacking and injuring Stanzi in the endzone in 2009 vs Northwestern. With a healthy Stanzi we probably finish off that game as a win and then maybe beat OSU the next week for the Big Ten title and an eventual undefeated regular season after beating Minny.

3. For you newbies that don't know, the rule around here is that his official name is Bobby F'in Olive. You're not allowed to say it any other way.

Yeah the part that makes that game so upsetting was how much Iowa dominated the play, which has been unusual when Iowa plays OSU. Iowa has won occasionally, but rarely dominated on both sides in that game and still lost.

So many little things in that game that could have led to a victory. I met Rob Baxley last year, starting O-tackle on that team who lives in the same town as me here in California. I talked to him about the game and he said Tony Stewart missed a cut on Iowa's previous offensive series. If he had made the cut, Iowa would have had a first down and kneeled to run the clock out. Ugh.

By the way, Rob is a really nice guy. He coaches his two sons in flag football, and their team is called the Hawkeyes!

1) Disagree. No way Iowa gets in over a brand like Ohio State.

2) Very painful. Though, like with #1, we didn't miss any chance at a national title like you sometimes hear claimed. No way we pass TX and AL.

3) You are correct.

Delete the post with the videos as i concider that porn
Um . . . what?

Still pissed about Stanzi's sack, #90 for northwestern is a big reason why Stanzi got hurt like he did on that play. #90 did an illegal facemask(should have been called btw) and yanked Stanzi's whole body back preventing him from rolling with the hit... he would have still been hurt I think but I think it was the difference between a fracture and a sprain. The correct call made by the ref and Iowa would have won that game, staying undefeated.

Notice #90 death-grip on Stanzi's facemask, he doesn't let go either and almost folds Stanzi in half.

Ohio State is a name brand, but in 2002 they were having their first really good year in a while, plus they barely won several of their games. Many in the media thought we were the better team, but people couldn’t justify voting us higher with one loss. I’m not saying for sure it would have happened, but I think we had a shot at jumping them. At the very least we would have been the representative for the Rose Bowl since the tie breaker with two 12-0 teams would have ended up at the team that had gone the longest since their last appearance. And we definitely would beat Washington State in the Rose Bowl that year.

And yes we probably wouldn’t end up in the title game in 2009, but once again we would have gone to the Rose Bowl. Imagine the recruiting boon if we had three Rose Bowls including one or two wins. People start talking about Kirk as a hall of fame caliber coach.

I’ve said this on here before, but #2 is the only time I’ve literally spat in disgust in Kinnick. I missed seeing #1 in person due to a wedding, but the feeling after both plays was the same. You just knew a crushing L was coming.

Those 3 are hard to beat.
Let me also throw out Bobby Engram TD catch over Eggy when Hayden still prowled the sidelines and Kenny Bell OT TD in corner of end zone to end the 2014 regular season.
Damn, thinking about this stuff makes me reach for some Jack or Cedar Ridge.

I believe in 2002 the Big Ten “official champion tiebreaker” had a clause about a team being ranked in the top 2 (or something like that) that came after head to head and overall record, but before who was champ most recently

Prior to Penn State this year, I believe that Wisconsin game in '10 was the loudest I've ever heard Kinnick - then the fake punt happened. Interestingly, we followed that game with a complete thrashing of MSU, which was an extremely fun game to be at. The Pryor play makes me seethe to this day.

OSU game '90- Olive, the Hanks deflection going into the half and the Jason Olenzach (sp) interception that he ended up fumbling back to OSU. Woulda, coulda and shoulda- the most heartbreaking game at Kinnick in my opinion.

Another thing about that game....on OSU's second to last possession, they threw a long INT on 4th down deep into Iowa territory. Had our defender just knocked the ball down we would have taken over in a lot better field position. 3 and out, even with a poor punt, OSU would have had a lot farther to go and likely would not have been able to pull it out.

That Wisconsin fake punt still disgusts me to my core even to this day. I can still clearly remember sitting in the stands and watching that play.

God, I hate Wisconsin.

We were 5-0 in big ten and 7-1overall, ranked 6, with a possible path to #1. Ended up in 4 way tie at 6-2 but we beat all three of the other 6-2 teams ON THE ROAD. FOSU finished 5-2-1. The OOC loss was road loss to Top 5 Miami -yes, we actually played series like that back then occasionally
