Here we have a big size advantage and we took arount 49% of our shots from three point range. Meanwhile, ISU only took 40% of their shots at the three. How does this make any sense? I know some of it is because our guards can't get to the rim, so we get fewer layups, but still......

Can’t break anyone down from the perimeter , nobody posted up hard other than Pemsl and nobody can feed the post consistently without turning it over.

Right on. How many of ISU's paint points were guards dribble driving into lane and scoring or even if they missed, putbacks or FT? ISU had zero post game other than put backs.

Cook had poor game and at least Pemsl showed up. We were 1-8 from FT line and that is mostly poor FT shooting bigs because our guards can't dribble drive. Ellingson did manage to miss a front end of 1 and 1---the only guard to take a FT shot.

Amazing the roster Fran has constructed.

You hit the nail on the head. This team looks like a team a first year coach had to cobble together after transfers and last minute desperation offers. I take that back, those coaches can typically find a couple guards, even at the 11th hour.

It really does look like that. Fran did the first year with Cartwright. I’d love to have a Bryce cartwright on this team

I agree, Cartwright would be a great addition to this team. Not a great shooter, but he may be the best ballhandler Fran has ever had. Unfortunately, he has no eligibility left.

Because our post entry passes had about a 40% success rate. If our bigs did get it low they dribble 4 times with their backs to the basket, pick it up, realize they can't do anything with it, then try to pass across/to top of the lane right to the defense. One exception was Pemsl in the second half, who actually attacked the basket.

Gotta admit, I had to chuckle a bit when I looked at the box score and read the number of 3’s Iowa took. It wasn’t that long ago that Hawk fans were all over the Cyclones for “chucking it from downtown” and that’s the only game they had.

Here we are a few years later and now it is the Hawkeyes who seem to favor the 3 ball. Only difference is that the Cyclones were built for that kind of game. The Hawks, not so much.
