Thursday, March 12, 2020: B1G Tournament Canceled

The day before, on March 11, 2020, the NBA announced it was suspending the season for the foreseeable future.

Ah yes, who can forget the brilliant Rudy Gobert, days before killing the NBA season by testing positive.

Yeah, he looked like an idiot doing what he did there.

But the shut downs were coming, no matter what.

Wed March 11: NBA suspends their season
Thur March 12: Men's College Basketball Tournaments are canceled

Fri the 13th of March: what else could go wrong? In a sign of what was to come, President Donald Trump declared a national emergency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mon March 16: shut downs of gyms, bars, restaurants start ONE day before St Patty's day; St Patty's Day parades around the country are also canceled

Tue March 17: St Patty's Day

So easy to look back and judge. Decisions were made with little information to try to save lives. On the whole, I think they were wise. I I’d say this is a dumber time, by far.

My brother's father in law & mother in law both refused to get vaccinated. They got covid and had to be hospitalized. The hospitals were so full that one ended up in a hospital in Iowa; the other ended up in a hospital in Illinois. They both died, 5 days apart. My sister in law then buried her parents on the same day.

You honestly can't look back and think it was wise. You said it, "little information", then we took what little info we did have, ignored it and forced a lot onto people

Oddly, the only two people in my family that were hospitalized due to covid WERE vaccinated, and both are reasonably young (in their 40s), and no pre-existing conditions.

Biggest fraud ever perpetrated on the world.

Somehow I lived without a vax and my 82 year old parents never had a Vid test yet somehow survived.🤔

So people did die from Covid then? So then it was smart to start wearing masks and social distance otherwise it wud have only been worse!

March was the worst time to shut down everything.

Iowa was on a roll heading into the 2020 B1G Tournament. They were heading to the NCAA Tournament, too.

If someone wants to tag Joe's Place this thread will reach 10 pages. My advice is find someone who loves you like he loves Covid.

Selfishly looking at Iowa Athletics...

Iowa Wrestling was prevented from a nearly guaranteed NCAA title... Couldn't have been one of the many years PSU was going to win. Had to be when we were stacked and kicking a$$...

Oh and I had tickets
