What the heck is going on with ticket prices? Went to all the ticket sites and prices have tripled in 1 1/2 hours.

I'm not paying $600 or more for a ticket. Total bullshit that tickets are so high.

$2,000 for flights, $1,800 for tickets, $1,000 for hotels. Guess I'll be partying from home.

Yeah, I had every intention of going, but the cheapest tickets I can find are also $600, and the cheapest flights are out of ORD and still about $550 round trip. Add in hotel and this is a $3000 minimum for 2 people to go watch a football game. The reality that I can't afford to go to this is more sad than the game was last night for me. I purposely didn't go to Indy so I could save for January. Too expensive though.

Thanks, I'll try tickets through Iowa first.

Want to go but not if tickets are $600. What really makes me mad is paying 22% fees.

To compare the Cotton Bowl is around $80.00/per, the Orange bowl around $180.00 per. Hopefully my aunt can pull through with tickets through the university.

Tickets I was looking at went from $600 when I looked this morning, $800 when I purchased and now same tickets are $1500. Crazy how much and how fast they are going up in price. $100 service fee per ticket is also annoying.

Booked air and hotel and going to cross my fingers on tickets. Can always take out loan right?

On some of these ticket sites, they say the estimated ship date for the tickets are the 30th. What are you supposed to do with that?

This.

Last year, for the playoff, the average price per ticket was 374 according to Vivid resale market.

Keep in mind that was for the PLAYOFFS. Not your average Rose Bowl people.

You figure 50,000 Iowa fans. Does that sound like a good number?

That is probably a number about 10,000 too high. Especially with these initial prices scaring people off!!!

Then 15,000-20,000 Cardinal fans. Sprinkle in a few locals (say another 15,000?). How many seats are available out of 95,000??

They didn't sellout for the playoffs. Just over 91k last year. That was for the NC. Much bigger stakes... I would be surprised if they sold out for this or any other year.

Ticket prices are and will fall, hotels don't look too expensive (though cab rides could be). Looking like the biggest expense will definitely be getting to California from Iowa.

I dunno, people said the tickets prices would drop for the big 10 championship game too, and they never did. Kept going up actually.

This.

The Big Ten championship game has never sold out and it sold out this year. The turnout was incredible. It would not surprise me in the slightest if 75,000 Iowa fans make the trip to the Rose.

Think a lot of fans decided to wait at home and if their team made the NC game, that's the one they'd fork out for. Rose Bowl tickets won't drop.

Big difference in driving at the last minute to Indy, verse figuring out how to get to Pasadena. I know a bunch of people who were last minute in deciding to go to Indy. And they got there without a concern... and they got tickets for. Reasonable price.

Not to mention the cost of getting to LA, paying for a hotel in LA, and everything associated with going. There is no comparison.

Have no doubt the ticket sellers will gouge us as they can. But there will be tickets all up to and passed kickoff, and they will be significantly cheaper than what the %&#@s aRe charging now. Basic price discrimination. As long as people freak out and keep buying at ridiculous prices, they will keep selling at those prices. But prices will drop drastically. Same thing happened in 2002 at the Orange Bowl(and every bowl game). They couldn’t give tickets away right before kickoff. Which only makes sense, there will be little walk up demand. It isn't like Hawkeye fans can just stroll up to the Rose Bow at the last minute, like they do at Kinnick or did at Lucas Oil.

Just put in my season ticket holder request. $185 a ticket.

Any word on when we will find out on these? Stresses me out to have flights and hotel booked without knowing on tickets. Considering there were around 35k season tickets this year, and 22k available for the Rose, I feel pretty comfortable. Still though...

I doubt there are any left over from Iowa's allotment. Every season ticket holder is either trying to get their max for themselves, or has twenty friends asking them to order for them.

But if that season ticket holder is already going through a travel agent, they lose their travel agency tickets if they request from the UI & get the tickets. Read the fine print so you don't get screwed.

From the Alumni Association travel page:

If you purchase tickets through your athletic donor eligibility or from other sources, we will deduct $185 per person from the cost of your package. No game ticket deductions will be accepted after December 14, 2015

Thanks. Good to know. All their correspondence goes to my dads email, I need to get some of the account settings changed.

Ticket prices are jacked because people panic and buy everything as fast as they can. Get all your other stuff booked and you'll have no problem getting tickets within a week or so without having to take out a 2nd mortgage on your house :D

I'd just like to say if my current career does not work out, I will become a ticket broker charging 5-7 times the face value. Wow.
