Start Nunge, Pmac, Keegan, Weezy and Joe T
First 4 minutes.
Then replace Jack with Luka and Jbo for Pmac, 8 minute mark Perkins for Joe T, Connor for Keegan
12 minutes see what’s working. Maybe Ulis or back to Joe T
It may be too early to shake things up this much but should we lose again Wednesday, I dunno.
Any thoughts?

I love the length with Nunge Pmac, Keegan, Weezy and Joe T , best rebounding team we can put on the floor and likely best defense we can muster. and I think there’s a comfort level between PMac and JoeT as they both want to speed the game up which as we’ve seen can be both good and bad

Ulis (PG): can dribble penetrate and more in control than JT

CJ(if available)/JB (SG): Got to have a shooter here

JW(SF): No brainer

JN(PF): Better rebounder than CM, and allows KM to give energy off the bench which we are missing.

Luka(C): Get him more shots and run more plays for him. He needs to get back to shooting some 14fters facing the basket.

KM first off the bench
JB next if CJ is playing
PM needs min he is athletic and quick to the hoop good combo with KM
CM spot duty (he has heart and toughness but is so limited in skill, teams are just collapsing when he has the ball anticipating a feed to LG)
JT(Change of pace, if out of control then has to sit)
TP (spot duty)

I will sit in a different chair tomorrow to do my part. I agree that Fran needs to get out of the box and try to reinvigorate the team. As disappointing as the last few losses have been, I think it's possible for this team to right the ship if Fran gets some bench guys in the mix. Would be nice to have more experience under their belts in all the blowout non con games when Fran waited until it was Austin Ash time to put Ulis and Perkins in. Josh O., Kris Murray, whoever can go out and contribute for a couple minute stretch here and there.

Simply getting Jbo and JW some clean looks without them having to run half marathon would be an improvement.

They have lost 4 out of 5 and he hasn't changed the starting lineup yet. I don't think he changes the starters against Rutgers either. NOW, if they lose this one, we may see a change to the starting lineup in the next game. But Fran could also say 'well the next game is against a weaker MSU team, so lets just leave everything as is for that game too'.

I like Perkins. He didn't play the greatest game against Indiana but he was in there without Garza and Pmac and Nunge were just disasters, so that really affected his +/- in my opinion. I think he, Joe T. and Ulis should all get some minutes and then you can just go with the hot hand. Connor can play if we have a nice lead and want to give someone some rest. Otherwise he can go play baseball. Don't really care.

This is my expectation and it’s his team so unless the players start improving I guess we’re screwed, lol.
I’ll cheer them on either way

The only issue I have is playing Nunge and Garza together doesn't work against a lot of teams. Fortunately, Rutgers seems like a perfect fit for having two bigs on the floor. Iowa will need to rebound against Rutgers because they hit the glass.

Starting with Garza on the bench is insane IMO.
He is sensational, but last couple of games he’s struggled some. If you don’t like the eye test objectively you could check his stats. So if he sits the first 4 minutes, I’m feeling he and the team might benefit. , Don’t stress , never gonna happen

I forget, where did you coach again? I'm all for shaking up the starting lineup but that seems like a major overreaction. Start Joe T for JBO and maybe Perkins for Connor. Can't start our 2 bigs together, too risky for foul trouble.

Plus I’m not sure starting 3 of these guys who didn’t score for a whole game against Indiana is a good idea!
Shake shake shake!!! 😂😂😂✌️✌️✌️

Starting lineup is overrated.

But, Fran needs to do something different with Garza. On the low block, he is swarmed by 3 guys every time. Put him at the FT line more often when they can't use the boundary line as a defender. If they swarm him there, he dumps it down to KM, JN, JW or kicks it out. If they don't he buries the 15 ft jumper.

The Hawks apparently can't win with Garza scoring 15. 😌

#1. Fran just needs to maximize Garza’s offensive impact and minutes played
#2. Fran needs to maximize Murray’s minutes played.
#3. Fran needs to continue to get Wieskamp and Bohanon FGA
#4. Fran needs to get Nunge more minutes.

You can start whoever you want, but as long as Fran allows crappy effort in spurts from some of these guys, this team is going to struggle. I agree with one of the posters above, you wanna be lazy at boxing out, come sit next to me. Turn the ball over on a lazy pass, come sit down for a bit. Needs to be consequences for bad effort and bad fundamental play. He needs get that under control starting with a discussion with the team at practice every single day and before every game. They should know expectations and he should follow thru with the punishments.

Sitting Luka is one of the stupidest ideas yet. We don't need to do anything drastic. Sit Connor and the rest will take care of itself.

Exactly. Fran has to be willing to split up the starters. The Joe T and Garza combo does not seem to work. Joe T thrives when things are more spread out, motion and dish or alley oop or finish (hopefully).

Ulis is a better fit running our offense and can drive and set up JBo, CJF and Luka.

Garza played all 20 minutes 2nd half vs Indiana. He needs rests, but starting the game with him on the bench doesn't give him a chance to rest.

You don't put the POY on bench to start the game. He has nothing to do with the losing streak--he is always a plus.

Totally agree that he must start...

buT Garza DOES have a lot to do with the close losses @ IllIndia and @ IndiAna, he got 2 fouls in the 1H and Fran fouled him out logging only 28 minutes in both narrow margin losses, of course he never actually fouled out of either game,

“they just need to try harder!!!” is a bold strategy

I'm OK with the starting line up, more concerned with how we use the bench,.. We just lost to Indiana twice,.. for us there are no weak teams left on the schedule.

JT needs to start. JB needs to come off the bench. Some players have the mentality that they need to start to play well and I believe he is in this category. I think his play will drastically improve. Furthermore, JT can actually play defense unlike JB. JB coming off the bench provides senior leadership and a scoring punch.
Starters: JT, CJF, JW, JN, LG (Assuming CJF is back. Hopefully he is cause him being out is killing them)
Bench : JB, KM, PM, TP, AU, CM
No big shift changes. In and out 1 or 2 players at a time. A combination or 2 of LG, JW, CJF need to be on the court at all times. KM could start for Nunge. Either way is ok. I think KM's spark off the bench was important.
Defensively, this lineup might be able to cover one bad defender. Having 2 horrible defenders (JB, CM) playing at the same time is a big problem.

At the very least, especially with CJ being out, I have no idea why Jbo isn’t playing more 2 guard w Joe T playing point. Run him off screens and try and get him shots. Not falling, not a factor, sit him down.

Or going with the defensive lineup when we stretch a lead. Or reminding people that corner 3’s are allowed. Or not sitting and watching a 12-0 scoring run without drastic change.
