After some time to think I still come back and say "what in the hell were we doing?"

We were only up 21-20 and you'd think we were up two scores and trying to milk the clock down some. Iowa needed to keep trying to push up field and not pack it in. I've questioned Kirk and GD a lot in the past but the runs up the gut then milking the clock may be the most ignorant thing I've seen. It made absolutely no sense.

I knew right when NDSU got it back and then broke the 25 yard QB draw that the game was over.

Just a complete lack of feel for the game flow to play ultra-conservative on offense and hope that your gassed defense--which had been absolutely manhandled in the trenches all day long--could not only win it for you, but also prevent the other team from even getting into FIELD GOAL range. Just unbelievably poor instincts, but you know how it goes: that's (Iowa) football.

Something that hasn't been mentioned is how CJ was in shot gun on 3rd and 2 when we're up 7 just before their TD to make it 21-20. Yet we run it twice on our last possession. Completely backwards on what needed to be done. Especially on 2nd down.

This "drive" is what lost the game. With a couple of short passes we should have been able to pick up a first down. In the second half very few passes were thrown to our top receivers. I really question how we were supposed to run the ball when we had like 45 yards rushing for the game to that point. We actually ended up minus yards rushing in the fourth quarter-- and we run? Worst play calling by an offensive coordinator in recent years.

Iowa had negative yards as a whole in the 4th

NDSU had 124
Iowa had -9

Why none of the short passing game to Vandeberg that we were obsessed with vs Miami and ISU? it's like is disappeared?
