Couldn't be a whole lot worse for the football crowd. The timing anyway. Latest from Weather Service shows a band of up to 8 inches along Highway 30 and Interstate 80 starting Friday night into Sat morning.

The only good thing is it will begin to taper off in the morning, possibly clearing up the roads in time for people to make it to the game

Sounds like they have "dropped" the projected area of deepest accumulations south. When I looked at it early this morning, the band of heaviest snow was forecast along the south edges of MN and WI borders.. Hopefully, the concrete is still warm enough that much of the snow melts.

The ground temperature along I-80 is still pretty warm (hell its been in the upper 50's and low 60's) all week. So I think some of the snow will melt and when it freezes will be the issue.

The DOT will have to keep I-80 clear.

Now I don't know what to do. I normally park on the street. Probably won't be able to now, what with a snow ordinance likely to be in effect. I suppose I could try Hancher..it won't be that much farther to walk..or else take the train.

Not only will the weather suck, but the University of Iowahas issued a statement saying they've heightened security that's something similar to the NFL.

I guess it could be a response to the Paris attacks.

If you're dressed right and have the proper amount of "lubrication" then snow games can be a blast. The only down side is the wind -- for that you need to sit on the sheltered side of a fat friend.

if someone pays my way in and free tailgate food and beverage i can be that sheltering fat buddy:) jk

There will be thousands of tickets available for almost nothing outside the stadium, given the weather. Ten bucks at most.

How tough do you think security will be on bringing drinks into the game? Usually isn't a problem but with the new rules...

I bought enough lubrication to watch the game at home while listening to Beth, if you know what i'm talkin' about.....

My thinking is there's a real possibility the game's start time may get pushed back till 2:30.

If IC gets really dumped on, they're not going to have enough time to clear the stadium of snow.

You underestimate the university. The grounds crew will be working all night long to have the field cleared. If the snow isn't tapering off early the parking lots might be a little interesting.

I'm not sure what weather forecast everyone is looking at, but yesterday there was no snow forecast for IC, and today the indication is less than an inch?

All the forecasts I saw, IC was getting some but not like Des moines,CR, or Waterloo.

That being said I've seen 3 to 8 with isolated 10 inches with this storm. But what I have learned often weather people guess high. 3 to 10 inches is a huge difference.

Better hope it doesn't get moved or it's going to be taken off TV.. 0% chance of that happening

First it won't get changed. In the slim chance it did I would imagine only ESPN3 coverage available. Sad, BTN would have the overflow channel already to go.

I think its going to be a "heavy" snow, so the wind won't blow it around like they are stating. Majority of the heavy snow is supposed to fall overnight. Said by 8am just flurries, so people within an hours drive should be able to make it.

SNOWFALL TOTALS HAVE NOT CHANGED ALL THE MUCH. WITH THE LATEST
GUIDANCE AND TRENDS FROM DPROG DT...IT APPEARS THAT THE HEAVIEST
SNOW HAS SHIFTED SOUTH SOME 40 MILES. THIS PUTS A ROCKFORD TO
CLINTON TO IOWA CITY LINE AS OUR CURRENT BEST GUESS FOR THE
HEAVIEST SNOW AXIS. TOTALS OF UP TO TEN INCHES OR MORE COULD BE
POSSIBLE ALONG THE AXIS.

Recent updates said its moving up 2 hours ish and ending 2 hours earlier.. That could be good because that would more than likely be rain not snow...

The farther north that line goes, the less snow IC gets. The forecasts from the NWS keep pushing it farther south as posted above.

The 3pm narrative from the QC NWS will give us the best picture, they'll have the latest model runs to forecast with. They usually post it roughly 4PM when there's big storms to deal with.

Meteorologist here, Iowa City will probably get 4-6 inches, the snow will begin around rush hour in Iowa City and should taper off by 7-8 AM on Saturday for the most part. I think the tailgating lots/stadium should be cleared, I can't say the same for the roadways in that part of the state. Winds will pick up out of the NW on Saturday morning and temps will continue to drop throughout the day.

The high winds will negate the passing and kicking game.
The wet snow will negate the running game.

Bottom Line: Postpone the Iowa-Purdue until Sunday,
One day late is better than horrible playing conditions
on Saturday.

I can handle the game. I'm a bit concerned about getting there though. Hoping that I-80 through Illinois is clear.
