Tired of playing "not to lose"

It would be interesting to look back about 40 years, and figure out how many games we would have won if we could have gotten just 1 more 1st down rather than returning the ball to the opposition for a game-winning drive...

Well it's the first time since 2014 Iowa has lost after having led by 10 in the 2nd half.

So that's pretty interesting

Iowa State couldn’t get out of their own way in the first half. Iowa didn’t capitalize only being up 13-0. Being content with being up by 13, classic KF went to shut down mode running the ball 21 times to 10 pass attempts in the second and let the game ride with the defense. ISU mostly stopped the obvious run plays and Iowa can’t pass the football.
That was the biggest part of the game IMO. If Iowa scores TDs there you might as well warm up the bus.

Second biggest play was the 1 play 75 yard TD. Iowa almost NEVER gives up something like that. Even if ISU does score on that drive, they probably waste 6 minutes of game time doing so.
