I thought Lee played great last year and coaches talk highly of Nestor. How do we keep throwing Hall out there? 🤦♀️
You're correct, though Hall should have drifted deeper in the handoff to Schulte. Schulte was only focused on the left side of the field as that receiver came up. And actually looking at that play in slow motion, It was an amazing play call against our defense because it forced Schulte to decide between one receiver on the left that was actually running through his zone, as opposed to the wide receiver on his right.I think Schulte MAY have been at fault on that second one.
Hall definitely looked like he was expecting deep third help there.I think Schulte MAY have been at fault on that second one.
And Des, Josh and Riley….We miss Cooper DeJean more than many realize.
Yeah, fans have been spoiled into thinking Phil Parker can just plug in anyone at corner and expect the secondary not to miss a beat.We miss Cooper DeJean more than many realize.
That’s a little harsh, but he should probably only come in on nickel and dime packages.TJ is a confirmed scrub. He shouldn't see another snap this season.
Cooper ain’t coming back.We miss Cooper DeJean more than many realize.
So wrong, only one was on him, and he was on an island, admittedly bitTJ is a confirmed scrub. He shouldn't see another snap this season.
Moss was really good at thatShould probably teach our players to grab when they take the bait hard on these deep routes. Would rather take a penalty.
Last week the announcers were pointing out how much IOWA "sat down" on underneath routes and that they were vulnerable to going long. Eventually ISU caught us. Today it looks like Troy did as well. Phil will coach 'em up hopefully or others will take advantage.Should probably teach our players to grab when they take the bait hard on these deep routes. Would rather take a penalty.
Iowa’s defense has been very “commercial” to date. Nothing exceptional. The biggest disappointment has to be the secondary. They have been exploited, schooled and exposed big time the past couple of weeks. I’m watching Indiana right now…thank God they aren’t on the schedule!Hall hasn’t played well, but he’s not the only one making mistakes in the secondary. I’ve honestly been the most disappointed in Castro, he’s missed a lot of tackles because he’s not wrapping up. Lots of room for improvement, but I trust Phil to teach them up.
sad. Troy torched Iowa’s secondary and special teams. Would suggest this will be a very difficult seasonLast week the announcers were pointing out how much IOWA "sat down" on underneath routes and that they were vulnerable to going long. When Cooper got concussed against Nebraska a couple years ago, TJ Hall came in and got burned twice for the loss.We miss Cooper DeJean more than many realize.
As a true freshman, he got burned once today, he will grow. When Cooper got concussed against Nebraska a couple years ago, TJ Hall came in and got burned twice for the loss.
What makes you think he's going to improve? As a true freshman, he got burned once today, he will grow.
One could argue he was being aggressive trying to make the interception. He has great coverage on that play. What makes you think he's going to improve?
One could argue he should have broken up the pass in the end zone against ISU as well.
We miss Cooper DeJean more than many realize.
The ISU receiver took the ball from him.One could argue he was being aggressive trying to make the interception. He has great coverage on that play.
Great play by Higgins, beat a really good play by TJ.The ISU receiver took the ball from him.
Don't think so Schulte was responsible for the guy running over the middle. Hill bit on that guy and Hill's guy runs right by him. You're correct, though Hall should have drifted deeper in the handoff to Schulte. No, on X, Hawkeye recruiting started it was on SchulteDon't think so Schulte was responsible for the guy running over the middle. Hill bit on that guy and Hill's guy runs right by him.
Hold on, now. How can any of our secondary be expected to defend against the long ball when we have no one on offense who can throw it like that in practice?I thought Lee played great last year and coaches talk highly of Nestor. How do we keep throwing Hall out there? 🤦♀️
Pretty sure even Cade could make those two throws today. Of course the receiver might have to stop and wait for the ball, so they probably don’t go for TDs stillHold on, now. How can any of our secondary be expected to defend against the long ball when we have no one on offense who can throw it like that in practice?
Given up more big plays than all of last year.Hall definitely looked like he was expecting deep third help there.
The secondary hasn’t been good the last six quarters of football.
But at least this team can afford these losses better than teams of the last few years. They have a larger margin of eeeor this year.Given up more big plays than all of last year.
It was a great play design and another receiver was running right at Schulte who had to go with himI think Schulte MAY have been at fault on that second one.
He had a rough day for sure, but on both of those plays there was zero pass rush and the QB sat back in their with time for the receiver to make a double move each time. We need better coverage but we also need a more consistent pass rush.Hall needs to sit....the dude is a complete liability
38-7 without him
