To all the Haters...

what a douche bag you are.

Everyone on this HR board is Iowa fan, not necessarily a Fran fan and a lot of us think Barta is a crap AD. Super happy Iowa beat Cincinnati and hope they an upset UT, but expecting we might get blown out based on Fran's history vs Gonzaga and Villanova.
My thoughts exactly. My bro and I where yelling, cheering and hollering through the whole game watching at home. We where ecstatic that Iowa won but I guess we're haters according to the OP.

C'mon, OP. I appreciate your blind faith in this team, but you have to admit that they earned the negative attitude from much of the fan base. Maybe you can declare yourself a "better fan" than most, but you don't need to turn on everyone. This is a great time to be a Hawkeye; this is not a time for infighting. You should just be satisfied that you've "earned" the pleasure more than some of us.

No, they didn’t. Every team has bad stretches.

I thought jbo was unathletic and yet....takes their superior athletes off the dribble.

He's proven himself a very good competitor over the years. I never question his effort. All most fans want to see is the team giving great effort on the defensive end. Whatever happens after that, happens.

Today, the curse did not bite Iowa. Totally outplayed Cincy in a road game with very hostile officiating for the first thirty minutes.

As one of Jordan's biggest defenders I take particular joy from his repeated penetration today. He beats his defender far more often than credited but typically just circles back out. Today he took it to the basket. Hopefully that will give him the confidence to do it more often. Jobu will never be Nate Archibald or even Dean Oliver off the dribble but he's far better than you'd think given the silly Bohannon bashing that goes on around here.

Mid major talent, terrible coach, and “too white,” yet here we are. I don’t expect Iowa to beat Tennessee because they have Final 4 talent but I’m proud of this team for showing so much resiliency against Cincinnati.
We have several good 3-point shooters. If we shoot good enough, we can beat anyone. Slam dunks and good moves inside count for a point less.

People who’d rather bitch all of the time than root for the Hawks aren’t really fans. They get enjoyment out of being negative. Not complicated.

Just because their miserable doesn’t mean they’re not fans. Unless someone’s trolling, positive, negative, homer, realist, we’re all fans or we wouldn’t be here.

Go ahead a celebrate.. I’m going to.. but I also know a team that rarely plays good Defense is doomed to be mediocre... beating the Cincinnati Bearcats is not beating the Michigan Wolverines or the MSU Spartans
The Round of 32 is mediocre? Iowa just beat a team who was widely regarded as underseeded (should have been 5 or 6) 100 miles from their campus. This isn’t a win over Davidson or Temple. Cincinnati is a regular in the tournament and a very well coached team. I don’t see any reason to downplay Iowa’s win.

The bottom line is this: we are all Hawkeyes fans, rooting for a common outcome, but take different approaches to achieving that outcome. I’ve never understood the need to have an “intelligence” struggle between the “haters” and the “rose colored glasses” posters... especially since most of the people who frequent this board are reasonably intelligent people. No need to bash those with a different, but often logical, perspective.

The only problematic posters are those who would rather see Iowa lose and the coach get fired than see the Hawks win imo

Personally, I’d like to see, for both football and basketball, people wait until the end of the season to evaluate the body of work (unless you’re mathematically out of it in-season) before making statements like “Fire ____.” Both sports, and this board, are more enjoyable that way. Jmo

Edit: All this being said, Iowa could win the tournament and Barta would still suck

You can suck it!! Don’t bother coming on board either. Your either in or your out. This team was 14 - 19 last year and now in the final 32 teams left. Takes lots of work and character.

Two things I enjoy, Hawkeye wins! And the absolute misery of fire the coach board members when it’s obvious that they don’t get their “ whiny little way!” Too bad, but that is what I enjoy.

I feel the “hate” isn’t or hasn’t been directed at the team, but the coach and AD. The fans on this board are (mostly) of adult age, and some of us may get childish in our criticism of players. But those of us who contribute to the school we love and attended by way of ticket sales and direct contributions reserve the right to be upset about a program directed by a fool and coached by a hot head. Doesn’t mean we don’t still root for the dudes wearing the jerseys and repping Iowa. I’d love to see J-Bo and Co cut down the nets. Doesn’t mean I can’t still hold disdain for the middle-aged men who pocket millions to the chagrin of us all.

This thread is obnoxious and whiny.

Hawks won an exciting game today and I'm as happy about it as anyone. But some would rather come out to pour fuel on the fire instead of enjoying the win.

I also am critical when the team loses 5 out of 6 games. Especially when it's hardly the first time it's happened.

God I hate those "superfans", "true" fans, or whatever they see themselves as.. Those who think anything less than 100% optimism means you are a worse fan they are.

Kiss my ass.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to continue enjoying the win and the tournament.

I think the vast majority of the posters here are Iowa fans all pulling in the same direction. Then there are the same, never post unless Iowa loses, over the top negative assholes, who I sincerely doubt are Iowa fans at all.

The OP is correct and if someone doesn't like it maybe they should quit being haters. The players deserve our support PERIOD.

'We suck blah blah no athletes, can't recruit blah blah blah' It is you who sucks and today is the day you eat a f&%*-ton of CROW or you SHUT YOUR BIG YAPPER!

It's ALWAYS GREAT TO BE A HAWKEYE!!

Motherf$%^ing ALWAYS!!!

Sorry for the language but it's the Sunshine Crew's day and NOT Negative Nellies!

This post is the top candidate for the worst of the year. I never attack people, but on a day when every Hawk fan is thrilled, your insensibility and imprudence shine right through your words. Shame!
