Unless the AD already has a verbal contract with a great replacement lined up like Miller or Marshall I think this was a dumb move for a team that won the B1G outright last season. Indy is thinking the program will right itself with a new coach based on ancient history but the program isn't what it used to be and while they've been down others have caught up or surpassed them.
Both Bo and Crean got their last wins against us.Nebraska football move or justified? I'm waffling...
I wonder if this is why the no home game NIT? Crean was out of town, did they bring someone in for a chat?
You are right. The AD doesn't make this move if he didn't think he had a high tier replacement in line.
I would argue though. A good coach could come right in a bring Indiana back up. It is not like they didn't have good talent this year.....and again they won the Big 10 regular season title last year.
I have the feeling that the AD wouldn't have been around for another year if Crean was. I get the move but I also think its hard to justify firing a coach that just won the Big a year ago. Ultimately, I'm sure it was his lack of success in the tourney that killed him. That and he just isn't a likable guy. I'm calling it now . . . Crean to ISU when Prohm takes the LSU job.Firing a coach and bringing in a new one you risk offsetting team chemistry and seeing a mass exodus of players from the program. Probably should have given Crean another year but we'll see what happens. Coaching changes can and have killed programs.
Nope they didn't want to devalue the hall by playing an NIT game there. Apparently coaches throwing tantrums, choking players etc doesn't devalue it......just NIT games LMAO.Assembly hall is having some work done.
This would be a home run.UVA coach Tony Bennett is rumored to be the target of the Hoosiers desire.

is that why Virginia is getting beat?UVA coach Tony Bennett is rumored to be the target of the Hoosiers desire.
The Hoosier women have a home game today in the WNIT.
Incorrect. Indiana won the big ten last year. Nebraska football not so much. They're Nebraska football

Is the ceiling falling apart again? That was a bad omen for us a few years back when that happened!Nope they didn't want to devalue the hall by playing an NIT game there. Apparently coaches throwing tantrums, choking players etc doesn't devalue it......just NIT games LMAO.
Crean's championship last year hid how he wasn't that great of coach. His Big 10 coaching record is worse than Alfords at Iowa (And that wasn't good.)
Crean either had a great year or a mediocre year and missed tourney. Nothing inbetween. For the talent on the roster, he should have done more. And that was from an Indiana fan who expected him gone weeks ago.
Yes they were, they were busy cleaning out Creans office!Assembly hall is having some work done.

Wow, must be nice to have that kind of scratch to burn! I guess they felt the need to get after the next coach before the dominoes start to fall.Especially when his 4 million buyout drops to 1 million in three months.

They are not gonna pay him 4 million. That buyout is paid out over the length of his remaining contract. But that is only if he does not get hired in the three years. If he gets another job in that time his buyout is null and void as long as he makes more than the 1.3 per year IU owes him. Its not like they write a 4 million dollar check.
