Get Keegan Murray in foul trouble, the earlier the better. He'll dial up the physical play and don't count out some dirty for good measure. Izzo is going to go ape shit and get a red ass for the refs on every contact play involving the Murrays. That's the way I see it - ugly, lots of FTs, 2 min. tape reviews to determine a flagrant foul, to a few T's, etc.... anything to disrupt the game and complain.

Which is precisely why I likely won’t be watching. B1G Ten officiating is a joke, and the conference has allowed angry elf and Bitchagain State to get away with dirty, thug ball for years. It’s ridiculous.

I actually like watching Izzo. I find him entertaining. Fran could take some lessons from him on how to work the refs. He's a master at wearing them down over the course of the game without invoking a technical. It's also interesting how his relationship with his players has evolved. You see a fair amount of yelling back and forth between them that he'd have never allowed before. One thing you can always say about his teams over the years is that they play hard.

I think the Hawks take this one if they can control Bingham inside. He's got the height at 7' that can bother Iowa but not the bulk to push folks around like Dickinson or Kofi and they don't run the offense through him. Hawks by 8.

I am glad that this is a home game against this MSU team. I am especially glad that it will be the game where Garza and others will be honored. I am hoping that will translate to a very raucous crowd that will not tolerate any Izzo shenanigans.. Maybe Luka can pump up the crowd? Some teams hit their stride this time of year, but we really haven't seen that from any of Fran's teams yet. Maybe this year will be different.

That is basically what he tried to do to Luka.

You must be the most naïve individual on the planet if you do not believe there is a double standard. Izzo could WWF body slam an official and not receive a T.

Meh. You say naive. I prefer nuanced. And no, a WWF body slam will most certainly result in a T and termination.

I think it will be trying to intimidate the officials. I hope the crowd is all over his whining.

That big ten tourney game against Mich St was the worst. They let Mich St hack all game. Hate the way they play ball. The refs let them get away with it.

No.2: Get Todd Lickleiter rehired.

Whatever you call what Juwan did today?
I think he gets a 2 game suspension and a $10k fine per policy from the B1G and the rest is up to Michigan. I imagine they go bigger. Five game suspension without pay is my guess but who knows. Maybe they fire him.

Physical altercation is a 2-game suspension? What rule is that?

I don't know if there is a specific "physical altercation" rule.

Not sure about that. I tried to follow the link and it seemed a bit hokey.

I have a feeling that since a physical altercation was involved AND that he started a brawl, Howard will (and should) be dealt with more severely.

Steve Kerr - one of the analysts for that weekend - was even (politely) losing his shit over MSU getting away with all the football/rugby-style defense crap in that game.

That's how obviously bad it all was.

It doesn't really matter what the B1G does anyway. Ultimately this is in Michigan's hands.

What was infuriating was how they called it fair the first half and Iowa was doing well. Then the officials swallowed their whistles in the second half and Sparty took full advantage of it. Idk if I’ve even seen two halves of a game officiated so differently before or since.

Izzo would body slam the ref and the Big 10 would apologize to izzo…

There is an actual Big 10 Conference Handbook that apparently comes out annually, which is what he is citing. I have found a few online. The most recent I have seen is for 2017-18, which is on the IU website for some reason. The sportsmanship policy seems to be the same in each and is at pages 84-86 of the handbook.
