Per Phil Steele, Top 25 rankings clearly don't matter for Wisconsin and Michigan State? One Top 25 season per PS in period of 2009-2015 for MSU. But, look at success of each of those programs.

Ohio State has only had one double digit year outside Top 10 (#13 in '10), in period under 3 coaches.

Michigan was in Top 25, until 2015. Talent doesn't automatically equal success. Look at pre-Harbaugh and post-Carr.

In Brady Hoke's best year 2011, both Iowa and MSU took the Wolverines down.

Penn State has four Top 25 finishes in 2009, 2011 and now 2014 and 2015 under Coach Franklin. Franklin is getting some assistance with a consultant for the defense. Training wheels for the new recruiting guru?

Nebraska ranked in Top 25 in 2011 and 2013, but not enough to save Bo Pelini his job?

The Big Ten is working to up game for 2016? However, success isn't automatic outside of maybe Ohio?

James Daniels is ranked PS#83. With Paulson twins #93 and #95, respectively.

Austin Blythe was a PS#35. Drew Ott was PS#133. New starter was PS#31. Time for him to shine as a new junior starter.

Depth will continue to be Iowa's biggest concern, along with playmakers and special teams.
