Define old school stereo equipment.
How old is old?
I've got a pair of Klipsch Forte II's along with the Academy center channel. Have a pair of wall speakers too but those aren't as old.
Have an Onkyo receiver and cd exchanger.
My son wanted to take my speakers to college but his dorm room is just too small.
That would have been pretty cool though as I bought mine in college.
I own several Kenwood and Sony receivers/integrated amplifiers dating from 1970 until 1978. I own several analog stereo tuners from the 1970's. My turntable is a 1975 Sony. My oldest speakers are 1977ish Zenith Allegros (the first speakers I bought with my own money), a set of Klipsch Heresy I's from I believe 1981, and a set of Boston Acoustics A40's that are mid 1980's vintage. I also own a few Zenith tabletop radios dating as far back as 1963 and one of the original Bose Wave radios (early 1990's I believe) that works perfect (garage sale find, $5).
I have a few digital era pieces. I own 4 different Sony mega-changers from the late 90's-early 00's (3 CD, 1 DVD/CD). I own 3 different Yamaha digital receivers from the late 00's - I keep these for rooms with TV's and simple sub/stereo rigs.
Hell, I still own a 2005 LCD TV (Olevia), a 2007 57" Panasonic plasma, and a 2008 42" Panasonic plasma - all work perfect, and in the TV world they are quite ancient. These are mainly "they still work so I find uses for them" units (PC monitors mainly). I even have one working JVC S-VHS VCR that still works, and two working mid level cassette players from the 80's that play great.
I have a spare bedroom rigged up with 4 different analog stereos, displaying them 1970's stereo store style. 14 different pieces, 8 speakers, one of the plasmas for a PC monitor and DVD display. Then the living room and bedroom have their own mini-rigs set up. I also have an FM transmitter hooked up to my main PC which I broadcast/stream music which gives me a poor man's whole house (and my utility shed outside) audio setup. That reaches a full 100 yards outside my home - all I need is an FM tuner. I also have a much smaller rig set up for my cabin, which more or less operates the exact same fashion - a PC as the source, fed into a Yamaha/FM transmitter - which then feeds my outside deck speakers/amp.
You gotta use this old gear - they don't like not getting used. So, I find uses for them.
Most all of this stuff I got really cheap between 2000-2010 when having a home theater became the latest rage and people unloaded their old school traditional equipment for pennies on the dollar. I got pieces galore that retailed for $750-1000 or higher when new in stores for less than $50.
Unfortunately, nowadays collecting analog equipment has gotten really popular, driving prices up to where steals are very difficult to find. So for the moment, I'm sort of standing pat with my collection unless a flat out steal materializes.
